Fluids such as air, water, ethylene glycol and mineral oils are typically used in applications like power generation, chemical production, automobiles, computing processes, air conditioning and refrigeration. However their heat transfer capability is limited by their very low thermal conductivity. These fluids have almost two orders of magnitude lower thermal conductivity compared to metals, resulting in low heat removal efficiencies

To design and fabricate nano-fluid circuit over refrigeration circuit To reduce the heat released to the environment by using liquid nitrogen.
To study the performance enhancement in refrigeration system.

Increase the heat tranfer and thermal conductivity of working fluid which results in performance enhancement.
greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by using nanofluid circuit. heat removal is provided by the liquid nitrogen.

conventional refrigerants emits more carbon di-oxide to the atmosphere. heat transfer rate was limited with low transport of conventional refrigerant. Refrigeration creates greenhouse gases both because of the energy used to operate the equipment and because of the inherent global warming potential (GWP) of the refrigerant gases.

Introduction of nanofluid passage over refrigerant tube through out the process to absorb heat. Introduction of special circuit for dumping the absorbed heat and emitted gases in liquid nitrogen chamber.

The nanofluid is a solid-liquid mixture in which metallic or nonmetallic nanoparticles are suspended. The suspended ultrafine particles change transport properties and heat transfer performance of nanofluid, which exhibits a great potential in enhancing heat transfer.

Synthesis of nano fluid : base fluid with nano particles suspended to it to form a stable colloid. nano fluid circuit : nano fluid is passed over the refrigeration circuit with uniform flow.
liquid nitrogen circuit : heat absorbed by nano fluid is dumped in liquid nitrogen chamber.

Low nanoparticles concentrations (15 vol %), the thermal conductivity of the suspensions can increase by more than 20%. The volume fraction, shape, dimensions and properties of the nanoparticles affect the thermal conductivity of nanofluids

CuO and Al2O3 nanoparticles dispersed in water (effect of temperature)

4 vol% Al2O3 dispersed water nanofluids thermal conductivity raise 9.4% to 24.3% with increase in Temperature from 21 to 51 C

Two types of synthesis:

1.Two step process. 2.One step process. Since nano powders can be obtained commercially in large quantities, some economic advantage exists in using two-step synthesis methods that rely on the use of such powders.
