In President Madisons Declaration of War read to Congress in 1812, contends that US seafaring citizens are daily victims of lawless violence. The map showing the US House of Representatives vote for war June shows that most congressmen from New England and the maritime middle-Atlantic states were strong opponents of the War of 1812.
