Types of Rolling Contact Bearings
Cylindrical (roller) thrust bearings: They are used to support thrust loads. They are often found in gearsets like car transmissions

Tapered bearings were invented in1898. The inner and outer race are cone shaped. It has excellent capability to carry radial and thrust loads simultaneously. It is expensive than common cylindrical bearings.

Why it is called Spherical bearing?

Because it permits angular rotation within a specified angular limit based on the bearing geometry.

Features
    

Spherical bearings invented in 1907. It contains two rows of cylindrical rollers side by side. It has rollers that are thicker in the middle and thinner at the ends; the race is shaped to match. These bearings can thus adjust to support misaligned loads. The bearings have higher friction than a comparable roller bearing because different parts of the spherical rollers run at different speeds on the rounded race.

Jewel Bearing

Features
Jewel bearings were invented in 1704 for use in watches.  Friction is lower than roller bearings.  Very small size and weight.  Good temperature stability.  It has the ability to operate without lubrication.
