INTRODUCTION
In daily life, languages is important for us to perform

a communication proses. Without language, we cant give information to the other. This is because languages is use to be a medium for us to : express inner thoughts and emotions make sense of complex and abstract thought learn to communicate with others fulfill our wants and needs, language is defined as a system of sounds ranging from the symbolism of the man uttered by using the tools available in their articulation

Language came with the birth of our own. we acquire

language in accordance with our environment community. For example, the Malays speak Malay because they were born Malay family as well as Chinese people speak Chinese language because their were born in Chinese community.

DEFINE LANGUAGES ACCORDING TO PHILOSOPHERS


Edward Sapir (1921) - language often used by

humans and is the way used to express ideas, feelings, and desires through the sounds of the spoken language. Michael Halliday (1973) - language is a sequence of possibility and choice of appropriate behavior by an individual human being that sociable. Noan Chomsky - "Language is a process of free

creation; its laws and principles are fixed, but the manner in which the principles of generation are used is free and infinitely varied. Even the interpretation and use of words involves a process of free creation. John W.Santrock (2012) - Language is a form of communication- whether spoken, written, or signed- that is based on a system of symbols S.Jay Kuder (2003)- Language is a rule-governed symbol system for communicating meaning through a shared code of arbitrary symbols

DEFINITION OF LANGUAGE
Language - Any means of conveying or

communicating ideas; specifically, human speech; the expression of ideas by the voice; sounds, expressive of thought, articulated by the organs of the throat and mouth. The expression of ideas by writing, or any other instrumentality. The forms of speech, or the methods of expressing ideas, peculiar to a particular nation. The characteristic mode of arranging words, peculiar to an individual speaker or writer; manner of expression.

Issued the symbol refers to the word or phrase that

makes up the symbol. Example : In Malaysia, Malay is the national language that unites all people of all races. this language was chosen because most people can speak well. So, the spoken language has to be understood by everyone and also agreed upon by the public

LANGUAGE IS AN ARBITRARY The word used in reference of an object is not

necessarily the same. it according to the spoken language. For example, in Malay language, horse called kuda. This means even mentioned in a different word, but it still represents an animal(horse). Therefore, not necessarily the words referred to what is meant, as it changes according to the context of use and the way people speak it.
