• We have seen the importance of covenantal love and confrontation. • We have also seen how easy it is to BE offended. • We have seen how to handle offenses in going directly TO the person who offended us.

• And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Two-Fold Ministry of The Church 1. Make Disciples(evangelism) 2. Edification (Teach them) WHY IS LOVING CONFRONTATION IMPORTANT TO EVANGELISM?

• We are responsible to saturate this community with LOVE and demonstrate to the community a UNITY and ONENESS that provide the basis for VERBAL COMMUNICATION. Anything short of that is a disconnection between the message and the messenger which underlies the power(or lack thereof) of the message

JOHN 17:20-21
• “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.

• I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

• Love is the cardinal rule of the universe • When love is in control we seek out, explore and enjoy relationships with one another. • But we live in a broken world, nearly everyone in it is broken and nearly every relationship feels the effects of it. • Love is a passion for oneness

• Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Love seeks to restore Love will even endure wrongs Love will confront by establishing covenant. Love will see the ‘good’ and chooses to ignore the wrong until it is overcome • Love will turn your enemies into friends

• See in the life of Naaman a story that challenges us. • “Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master..” 2 Kings 5:1

• He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper. • This is a story of salvation • But the real hero of this story is not even mentioned by name

• the Syrians had gone out on raids, and had brought back captive a young girl from the land of Israel. She waited on Naaman’s wife. Then she said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.”

• We have seen the day of the celebrity. But God has spoken His last days revival would be ushered in by a bunch of NO NAME, NO REPUTATION NOBODIES who know who HE is!

• Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha’s house. 10 And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” 11 But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’

• Who’s offending who here? • It is one thing when a man offends you—but it is quite another when God offends you. • Listen to his words—”I thought…” • Unanswered expectations, failed expectations • Why would God offend us like this? Pride

• And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” 14 So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
