Human society has entered an era of ubiquitous computing

The practical implementation of ubiquitous services requires three levels of connectivity :

1. WAN ( Wide Area Network ) via Internet

  • 2. LAN ( Local Area Network ) via Wi-Fi

  • 3. HAN ( Human Area Network ) for connectivity

to personal information within the much smaller sphere of daily activities THE LAST ONE METRE

In the past, Bluetooth, IrDA, Zigbee and other technologies have been proposed to solve the

"last meter" connectivity problem

These technologies use radio frequency or light to transmit data over short distances

  • However, they each have various fundamental technical limitations that constrain their usage

  • Red Tacton is a new Human Area Networking technology that uses the surface of the human body as a safe, high speed network transmission path

  • It works by utilizing the electric field on the surface of the human body to transmit data between a Red Tacton transmitter and a Red Tacton receiver

  • Data can be transmitted upto 10 mbps

the weak electric field

  • The Red Tacton transmitter induces a weak electric field on the surface of the body

  • The Red Tacton receiver senses changes in the weak electric field on the surface of the body caused by the transmitter

  • The fluctuations in the electric field changes the optical properties of the crystal in the receiver which is detected by laser light and eventually transforms it into digital data using a detector circuit
