Green Sector Growth
One environmental coalition, the Apollo Alliance, projects 3 million green-collar jobs will be created in
the next decade, based on planned public and private investment of some $300 billion.” - MSNBC
2008

Our data showed that while investors are less aggressive in their investment projections, green tech
is likely to be one of the few sectors that will see an increase in venture capital investment in 2009.” –
KPMG 2008
Growing Demand for Renewables
Wind power is firmly established as one of the largest sources of
new power generation in the United States, and is becoming a
mainstream option for meeting growing electricity demand. Last
year, the United States added 5,244 megawatts of wind power —
more than 25% of the world total. The U.S. installed base of wind
power grew 45% in 34 states, accounting for more than 1% of
the nation’s electricity supply and powering more than 4.5 million
homes. The United States is on pace to surpass Germany as having
the largest installed base of wind power by the end of 2009.

•Almost all green energy trade (approx 700 terawatt

hours) will be covered by green certificates.
•Based on price expectations, the green certificate
market will represent approximately $50 to $75 billion
by 2010.
•Biomass and offshore wind energy will make the
greatest contributions to market growth.

The renewable energy sector had record IPOs in 2007,

with overall investments in clean technology increasing
by 35% to $117 billion.
