PROCESS DESCRIPTION

Raw Material Stores All raw materials like Rubber (Synthetic & Natural) different grades/types of Carbon, oil, Beadwire, Chemicals, Fabric, Latex, etc. are received and stored here. These raw materials are tested in the laboratories and put to use only if these meet the laid down specifications. Mixing Area Comprises of Banbury mixers where Polymers, Chemicals, oil, Carbon, etc. are mixed in a high efficient process, as per the mixing specification laid by the Technical Dept. with a view to get different rubber compounds that will have the properties needed in the various tyre components.

Dip Unit Nylon Tyre cord is processed here by treating it with a solution of latex and chemicals and is subjected to tension under specified temperature for a given time. Only such dipped fabric is used for Calendering in the next section.
Extruders Mixed rubber compounds from Bonburues, are extruded into tyre component, like Tread, Sidewall, etc. as needed for different designs and size of tyres. These are stored in leaf Trucks/Trolleys and properly identified. Calenders Dipped fabric is coated by a thin layer of specified rubber compound on both sides, squeeze [of different size] is also made here.

CONT.

Bias-Cutters Calendered fabric is slit here at a particular angle and width as per specifications. Also Calendered fabric is slit here for components like Chafer, Flipper and Breaker. Bead-Winding Unit Copper Coated steel wire is coated with specified rubber compound and woven, into fixed sizes of bead bundles. This is then covered with flipper strips. Tyre Building All components of a tyre like Bead, Plies, Tread, Sidewall, Breaker, etc. are assembled over a revolving drum and a Green Tyre gets build. Different types of tyre building machines to manufacture different sizes of tyres. Tyre Curing Green tyres from building section are spray painted, both inside and outside, with special solution and after a given interval of time, are cured in the curing presses of different sizes with the helps of HP steam and hot water. These tyres are then finally inspected.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Procedure of New Product Development at J.K. Tyre

Industries Ltd. (Kankroli Tyre Plant)

Collection of customers requirements on a format Search the application area Vehicle on which tyre will be fitted Technical data regarding vehicle e.g. Rim Size, Cross section area, OD, NSD of tyre, Vehicle clearance from road surface, load carrying capacity, etc CAD/CAM simulation study Bench marking if any competitor launch new tyre in the market, then the researchers of the company are analyze it. Prototype tyre made (five tyre) Indoor testing Pre-chance production (500 tyres) Field testing
