Spinal Shock

• a state of transient physiologic (rather than anatomic) reflex depression of cord function below the level of injury, with associated loss of all sensorimotor functions

Spinal Shock • severe autonomic dysfunction: – hypotension – relative bradycardia – peripheral vasodilation – Hypothermia • areflexia. loss of sensation and flaccid paralysis below the level of the lesion • flaccid bladder and loss of rectal tone .
