Timeline

1970s Computer engineers in the U.S. worked on a project to link their computers together using telecommunication technology. This connection of computers became known as ARPANET which later became known as INTERNET. Late 80s to early 90s Marks the start of TELECOMMUTING After more than a decade this computer application became widespread. Emails, world wide web, and the development of low cost technologies like ADSL fast Ethernet networks increased the wide use of computer networking to businesses and individuals thus the start of working remotely. Employees are called Nomad workers or Web Commuters

Mid 1990 -Many jobs in industries like those of accounting, finance, writing & content, graphic design and many businesses have embraced the idea and use of telecommuting or teleworking in the discharge of their roles, many employees now work from home and distant places. Outsourcing and Ofshoring of jobs started. Late 1990 Marks the emergence of Homesourcing or Homeshoring a combination of Outsourcing and Telecommuting The transfer of service industry employment from offices to home-based employees with appropriate telephone and Internet facilities or what we now call Homebased Online Jobs
