Common Methods of Conclusion

and many writers feel that they have nothing left to say after having written the paper. .Conclusions  Conclusions are often the most difficult part of an essay to write.

Conclusions A writer needs to keep in mind that the conclusion is often what a reader remembers best. . Your conclusion should be the best part of your paper.

This combination of a summary and a final thought is the most common method of concluding an essay.#1: End with a summary or final thought  Note that a summary is accompanied by a “final comment” that rounds off the paper and brings the discussion to a close. =) .

If higher-paying careers continue to attract the best and the brightest students. Our youth will suffer.

What is a TITLE? A title is usually a brief summary of what your paper is about. You may find it easier to write the title after you have completed your paper. It is often no more than several words.  .

. But the title should match the tone of the essay. meant to be funny or a little strange. If it is a personal essay.Tips on Writing Titles   What is the tone of the project? If this is a serious paper. don't be too silly or off-the-wall with your title. it's ok to title your essay in a different manner.

Are they jarringly different? That could work well too.  .Tips on Writing Titles Pull out a few keywords that sum up your paper. After you have your keywords. Do they remind you of another word that sums up the whole idea? Spend a few minutes brainstorming. Do the three words fit together? That could work well. brainstorm some ideas around them.

Then take a fragment of the quote to use. take a fragment of a thoughtprovoking quote from the book itself. if applicable. If it is a book report.Tips on Writing Titles   Find a quote that matches one theme or central idea of your essay or paper. try "Toil and trouble: Murder and intrigue in Macbeth". You could also use a song lyric if appropriate. You can type the word into a search engine along with the word quote and check out a few quote web pages. For a paper on Macbeth. .

but make sure it's appropriate. If your paper is about a volcano.  . you could try "The last king's folly: The final battle of Constantinople". try "The day the earth bled: The eruption of Mount Vesuvius" or for the fall of Constantinople. interesting or surprising image paired with your keywords to get the reader's attention and make them curious about your paper.Tips on Writing Titles Use a startling.

How about "Fit to be tried: The battle over gay marriage in the courts".Tips on Writing Titles  Try to find a cliche that you could re-work and say in a new way for your essay for a clever effect. .

For a paper about missionaries in West Africa during the colonial period."  . Or how about "Understanding and overstanding: Predatory lending and debt. try "Prophets or profits: The European colonial invasion of West Africa".Tips on Writing Titles Try some clever word play for your title such as a double entendre that could apply to your paper.

Have them read over your paper and ask them if it makes them think of any song lyrics. . If not. ask them to sum up the paper in three words and use those to build your title.Tips on Writing Titles  Ask someone else for help if you are still having trouble. movie titles or TV shows or quotes.

Jared Diamond's 1997 book title basically just summed up his thesis statement. Use those three words to build your title. Germs. put a colon and then just state what your paper is about. "Guns. and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies" and it's a best seller.Tips on Writing Titles  Sum up your paper in three words or sum up your thesis. .
