PEACE AND BLESSINGS OF ALLAH BE UPON YOU Over 1.7 billion Muslims (25% of world population) from a vast range of races, nationalities and cultures across the globe -- from the southern Philippines to Nigeria ,Arab world, Indonesia; Asia and most of Africa, and significant minorities from Russia, China, North and South America, and Europe. United by their common Islamic faith, are FASTING during this month of RAMADAN.

Most of us who are fighting the battle of the bulge have experimented with some form of fasting, like an all fruit fast, a water fast or a sugar-free fast, you name it.

But what many may find rather strange and intriguing is a whole nation of people; be it man or woman, old or young, rich or poor; going completely without food and drink from dawn to dusk for a whole month – Ramadaan SINCE 1433 YEARS
What really is the spirit of Ramadan?

and sexual relations. all Adult Muslims fast from dawn until sundown. abstaining from food. elderly. drink. traveling. Physically unable. pregnant or nursing are permitted to break the fast and make up the days. they must feed a needy person for every day missed .FASTING IN ISLAM-the requirements Every year in the month of Ramadan. Those who are sick.




and if someone begins an obscene conversation or tries to pick an argument. “I am fasting. among the most destructive emotions is ANGER. no one is externally superior to another in this regard. .Controlling the many negative emotions which simmer in the human mind and soul. (peace be upon him) said: “When one of you is fasting. Prophet Muhammad. Fasting helps to bring this emotion under control. the negative emotion of jealousy is reduced. as every fasting person is reduced to the common denominator of abstinence.” Likewise. he should simply tell him. For example. he should abstain from indecent acts and unnecessary talk.

Food/smoking/drinks for many people. provides comfort and joy –and the ability to separate oneself from it gives the fasting people the psychological benefit of knowing that they do have some degree of control over what they do and what they do not do. “Allaah has no need for the hunger and the thirst of the person who does not restrain himself from telling lies and acting on them even while observing the fast. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was reported to have said.

” Fasting is primarily between the person and God. as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said. as no one can be sure that any person is actually fasting. his previous sins will be forgiven. “Whoever fasts Ramadaan out of sincere faith and seeking his reward from God. revives and regenerates the fasting person’s spirituality and radically modifies his or her personality and character. It is meant for Me alone. and I alone will give the reward for it. . Allaah was quoted by the Prophet (peace be upon him) as saying. except fasting. Because of this intimate aspect of fasting. “Every act of Aadam’s descendants is for themselves. It restores.Increasing God-consciousness Sincere fasting purifies and atones for sin.” Fasting transforms a person from within.

Such are they who are truthful/sincere." (Qur’an 2 : 177) “O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female. and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. And those who keep their treaty when they make one. the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has Taqwa. Verily. that you may know one another. Verily. and made you into nations and tribes. Such are the God-fearing. but righteous is he who believes in Allah and the last Day and the angels and the Scriptures and the Prophets. and to set slaves free.” [Qur’an 49:13] . AllAware. to kinsfolk and to the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and those who ask.Taqwa /piety is mentioned in the Qur’an over 250 times "It is not righteousness that you turn your faces to the East and the West. Allah is All-Knowing. and observes proper worship and pays the poor-due. and gives his wealth for the love of Him.

CELEBERATEING REVELATION OF the QURAN and other holy books .

peace be upon him. and derives from a word meaning 'peace'.WHAT DOES 'ISLAM' MEAN? The Arabic word 'Islam' simply means 'submission'. . 'Mohammedanism' is thus a misnomer because it suggests that Muslims worship Muhammad rather than God. The Mountain of light where Gabriel came to Muhammad. In a religious context it means complete submission to the will of God. which is used by Arab Muslims and Christians alike. 'Allah' is the Arabic name for God.

AUTHENTICITY OF THE QUR'AN The Qur'an is a record of the exact words revealed by God through the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. It was memorized by Muhammad and then dictated to his Companions. Suras. was carried out at Oxford . has been changed over the centuries. who cross-checked it during his lifetime. and written down by scribes. The carbon-dating of a folio from this manuscript from TASHKENT-Uzbekistan. . they are all reading the same book. The result showed 95% probability of a date between 595 CE and 855 CE. so that the Qur'an is in every detail the unique and miraculous text which was revealed to Muhammad fourteen centuries ago. All over the world. Not one word of its 114 chapters. when muslims read their holy book.

At the same time it provides guidelines for a just society. and law. doctrine. to those who fear Allah.WHAT IS THE QUR'AN ABOUT? The Qur'an. without doubt. proper human conduct and an equitable economic system. but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. 2:2 This is the book. in it is guidance sure. ِ َ ِ‫ذل‬ ِ ِ‫ْكتَاب الَ ريب ف‬ ِ ‫دى لِّل‬ )2:2( ‫ين‬ َ ُ ‫يه‬ ُ ً‫ه‬ َ ‫ْمتَّق‬ َ َْ ُ ‫ك ال‬ . the last revealed Word of God. It deals with all the subjects which concern us as human beings: wisdom. is the prime source of every Muslim's faith and practice. worship.

or the black man any superiority over the white man. and made you into nations and tribes. that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). nor does a non-Arab have any superiority over an Arab. Nor does a white man have any superiority over a black man. This has been exemplified by the Prophet in one of his sayings thus: "No Arab has any superiority over a non-Arab. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things) (49:13).Equality of Human Beings O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female. and Adam was created from clay" . You are all the children of Adam.

The Holy Quran lays down: Whosoever kills a human being without (any reason like) man slaughter. or corruption on earth.The Right to Life The first and the foremost basic right is the right to live and respect human life. The Right to a Basic Standard of Life Speaking about the economic rights the Holy Quran enjoins upon its followers: And in their wealth there is acknowledged right for the needy and destitute. it is as though he had killed all mankind "And whoever saves a life it is as though he had saved the lives of all mankind" (5:32). (51:19) .

. but for all the human beings of the world. God is aware of all that you do. the justice to which Islam invites her followers is not limited only to the citizens of their own country. (5:8) "You who believe stand steadfast before God as witness for (truth and) fairplay" (4:135). bearing witness to the truth in all equity. In other words. And remain conscious of God: verily. This makes the point clear that Muslims have to be just not only with ordinary human beings but even with their enemies. Be just: this is closest to being Godconscious. and never let hatred of any-one lead you into the sin of deviating from justice. or the Muslim community as a whole. or the people of their own tribe.The Right to Justice O YOU who have attained to faith! Be ever steadfast in your devotion to God. nation or race.

(5) Show us the straight path.A PRAYER In the name of Allah. the Merciful. Lord of the Worlds. Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray. (7) . the Beneficent. (3) Owner of the Day of Judgment. Thee (alone) we ask for help. (2) The Beneficent. the Merciful (1) Praise be to Allah. (6) The path of those whom Thou hast favoured. (4) Thee (alone) we worship.

My reward is from none but Him who created me: Will ye not then understand? " Qur'an 11:51 THANKS ." O my people! I ask of you no reward for this (Message).
