Do You know what a determiners are?


Well after seeing this slide you will be familiar with determiners.

Determiners :---Determiners are the words which determines or decide something about the nouns they modify.

Determiners are of the 6 types :-----

1) An article is a word that is used for indicating

whether a noun is specific or non-specific.


2) An article is present before a noun, it shows

whether that noun is some general noun or some particular noun.

Used for pointing out specific or particular nouns

(Here, the presence of a shows that some general/nonspecific boy is being talked about.)

Possessive adjectives, also known as possessive


determiners, are a part of speech that modifies a noun and act as adjective or quality words. The possessive always refer to the possessor Best examples1)This is my house. (my is modifying house) 2)This is your account. (your is modifying account

The words mine, yours, ours ,hers, his and theirs are called possessive pronouns .
The act same as Possessive adjectives . But they come after the nouns unlike possessive adjectives which come before the noun.

Ex- 1. This book is mine. 2. This house is yours.

Adjectives of quantity tell how much or how many. Some of tem are:

Adjective of number means number is used before nouns to show its quantity

Ex: There are ten students in row.

Ex: Bring two chairs from there.

This (These plural) and That (those plural) are called as Demonstratives.
They can be used both as adjectives and pronouns. They point to somebody or something. They tell us which one.

Ex: 1.This is my pen (Pronoun)


2.This pen is mine.(adjective)

That (plural- those) is used to avoid the repetition of the preceding noun . Ex: My shirt is better than that of yours. This (plural- these)refer to person(s) or thing(s) near the speaker. Ex :This book is very interesting. That (plural- those) refer to person or thing far from the speaker. Ex: Get that cat out of here.
