Hardware Configuration and Parameter Assignment

Configuration
Assignment of racks, blocks and distributed I/O in the Station window of HW Config. You can select the components from a hardware catalog.

Parameter-assignment

Establishing the characteristics of parameterassignable blocks, e.g: startup characteristics, retentive areas, etc.)

Preset configuration

Planned hardware configuration and parameter assignment.

Actual configuration

Actual configuration and parameter assignment of an existing hardware.

Possible Problems with Configuration

Situation In S7-300, gaps in configuration Incorrect CPU (e.g. CPU 315-2DP instead of CPU 314) Analog module in incorrect slot Incorrect measuring range for analog module After a memory reset, different parameter assignment of modules

Result/Remedy Configuration cannot be compiled Configuration cannot be downloaded CPU goes in Stop mode because of a parameter assignment error Analog module signals group error because of incorrect parameter assignment Reload configuration Create HW station or "Upload Station" Open the station offline

Not possible to open HW Config.

Exercise: Reading Out and Adapting the Actual Configuration

Step 1 2 3 4 5

What to Do
Start the SIMATIC Manager Open the project "My Project" Download the actual configuration with PLC -> Upload Check whether the correct modules (order numbers) are entered Enter the correct order numbers for the modules Save the configuration as "My Station" and download the configuration If you have an S7-400 training unit, adapt the addresses (see text)

Result
The tool is started The project structure is displayed A new HW station is created

???

The parameter blocks of the CPU are displayed

6 7

The addresses are the same as the S7-300 training unit, version B

Exercise: Assign Parameters to Clock Memory and Test It

Step 1

What to Do
In the CPU assign parameters to a clock memory MB 10 Save and download the configuration in the CPU

Result

MB 10 flashes

Check the function by programming an OB 1 with the statements L MB 10, T QB 9 (QB 5)

QB9 (QB5) on the simulator should flash
