There are three stages to be pursued to qualify as a Company Secretary: 1) Foundation Course 2) Intermediate Course & 3) Final Course

What is the eligibility to join Foundation Course?


Pass in 10+2 Examination Or its equivalent in any stream
Students who have appeared/Enrolled themselves for appearing in the Senior Secondary Examination are eligible for provisional admission. The proof of Passing the +2 examination is required to be furnished to the Institute within 6 Months of the provisional Admission.

Any Pass percentage is required to get admission to the Foundation Course?

A Pass in the +2 or its equivalent examination is eligible for admission. No restriction with regard to minimum percentage of marks for seeking admission being a distant learning program.

Can A student pursue any other academic course while pursuing the CS Course ?

Yes, the Institute has no objection if you pursue any other course while being student of Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

What are the Subjects for the Foundation Course?

Who are exempted from foundation course?


A candidate possessing any of the following qualifications or any other qualifications recognised by the Council of the ICSI with the approval of the Central Government as equivalent thereto, is exempted from passing the Foundation examination A Degree or master's degree in Corporate Secretaryship or Commerce
Pass in the Final examination of the Institute of Cost and Works Accounts of India(ICWAI) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants(ICAI) of India or any other Accountancy Institution in India or abroad recognised as equivalent thereto by the Council: or A degree or master's degree in any discipline other than Fine Arts.

(The Institute provides comprehensive study material for all the subjects at the time of admission. The institute allows the option of writing the examination in English or Hindi Medium. Which is the Last date for seeking admission to the Foundation Course?

Admission is open throughout the year. However cut off Dates are available viz., For appearing in June Exam - 30th Sept. of previous year and, for appearing in Dec. Exam - 31st March of the same year.

How much is the Fees for Foundation Course?


Registration Fee Rs 1000 Postal Tuition Fee Rs. 2000 Total Fee Rs. 3000 50% Fee concession given to SC/ST candidates

How much is the Oral Coaching Fees for Foundation Course?


Oral tuition Fee is about Rs.4000 (It varies from OT Centre to OT Centre )

What are the Qualifying Marks in the Examination?


For passing all the stages, students are required to obtain 40% marks in each paper and an aggregate of 50% in all papers. The Institute also awards prizes, rank certificates, merit scholarships to the meritorious students based on their performance in the Institutes examination and Merit-cumMeans assistance to the economically weaker students

A qualified Company Secretary has openings both in employment as well as In Practice: Employment Companies with a paid-up capital of Rs.2 crore or more are statutorily required to appoint a whole time Company Secretary All companies seeking listing on stock exchange are required to appoint a whole Company Secretary who is a member of the ICSI Every kind of organization whose affairs are conducted boards, councils and other corporate structures, be it a cooperative society, trust, society association, federation, authority, commission, board or the like, finds it useful to appoint a qualified company secretary in key administrative position.
