10. Course Description This course extends students’ competence and accuracy of more advanced English reading and writing skills with the assistance of English grammar including Imperatives and Requests, Future Simple Tense, Conditional Sentences, Present Perfect Tense, Conjunctions, Feeling Verbs, Infinitives and Gerunds, Passive Voice, Comparisons, and Relative Pronouns. Topics are integrated with listening, speaking and writing skills. Self-access learning and practices are assigned as parts of the course. •

Class attendance:

Students who come to class on

time and remain attentive until the end will get 0.5 marks from pre-post tests. Any student who is 10 minutes late will be locked out until the break and will not get a pre-test. Any student who goes absent more than 20 minutes during class will not get a post-test. Pre-test and post-test is worth 0.25 marks each on condition that all post-tests have to be done, checked

and corrected. (6 marks).

Class participation:

Students who

participate in class activities, ask or answer questions correctly or incorrectly will get a ticket. Each ticket is worth 0.20 marks. (2 marks)

Quizzes: Students will be
tested after 3 units learned. Each quiz will test students on grammar, vocabulary and reading. (10 marks)

Irregular Verb Tests: Past
and Past Participle of 20 useful verbs will be tested twice. (4 marks)

Short Film Project

By 5th week, groups of 6-8 students submit their lists of group members’ names and the name of an English-speaking short film which they need to complete within 3 months. The film must last at least 5 minutes and can be the longest as10 English minutes. 2 live scenes from the film must subtitle is be presented in class within 5 minutes in required 8th week in order to get 2 marks. The complete short films of all groups will be shown in class in 11th week for another 6 marks. (8 marks)

Mid-semester examination: written questions
for 60 marks from unit 1-6 (20 marks)

Final examination: multiple choices for 30 marks
from unit 1- 6, written questions for 75 marks from unit 7-11 (50 marks)
