Agriculture Statistics of Pakistan

Introduction

Pakistan has agriculture based economy. This sector accounts for about 25% of the GDP and employs 50% of the total labor force. It contributes 80% to foreign exchange earnings and provides raw material for major industries.

LITERATURE REVIEW

The Agreement on Agriculture speaks of increasing trade in agricultural products through progressive liberalization. According to authors unrestricted trade regime stimulate the economic regime and brings the socio-economic gap among countries.

M. Khalid4 has shown in his research that Sanitary and Phytosanitor (SPS) agreement can impede trade in agricultural and food products Research conducted by WTO department5 in ministry of agriculture has shown a comprehensive background of exports of Pakistan in crop sector

Technological Needs

In mechanization of agricultural sector we consider the innovation of new technology in agriculture The technological progress in agricultural sector of Pakistan was mainly composed of bringing tractors and tube wells Introduction of tractors and tube wells boosted up agriculture sector in concerning areas

MAIN PROBLEMS IN PAKISTAN CROP SECTOR

The environmental situation is very poor and alarming in Pakistan Many poor farmers with low subsistence level are unable to take risk in their cultivation methodology Another problem was of introducing chemical in agriculture. They were mainly composed of fertilizers and pesticides In most of the developing countries, the energy problems being addressed are countering the high dependence on traditional sources of energy supply

Conclusion

Pakistans crop sector is the leading sector of agriculture. Agreement on Agriculture is affecting the crop sector indirectly. The main goal of Pakistan should be to give the right direction to the crop sector because a large number of labor force is associated with it along with the earnings and expenditures of exports and imports respectively
