Abbreviation of CNG : Compressed Natural Gas

Information about CNG:It is the natural gas that has been compressed in such a way that it is lighter than air. IT MOSTLY CONTAINS OF METHANE(CH4).CNG CONTAINS 87% OF METHANE IN IT. It is a byproduct of coal mining, or comes from crude oil productions. It is a fossil fuel, substitute for gasoline (petrol), diesel fuel, or propane. Although its combustion does produce green house gases, it is a more environmentally clean alternative to those fuels, and it is much safer than other fuels in the event of a spill (natural gas disperses quickly when released). It is odorless so NG companies add smell so that it can be detected.

Information about gasoline: Gasoline or petrol is a

transparent, petroleum-derived liquid that is used primarily as a fuel in internal combustion engine. It consists mostly of organic compounds obtained by the fractional distillation of petroleum, enhanced with a variety of additives. Some gasoline's also contain ethanol as an alternative fuel. In North America, the term gasoline is often shortened in colloquial usage to gas , while petrol is the common name in the UK and in some other commonwealth countries.

Economic benefit : The cost of CNG is almost a one third of

the cost of petrol in terms of calorific value resulting in substantial saving in fuel cost, and investment on the CNG kit is paid back in a short period Income tax depreciation: Corporate organizations, firms, etc. Can claim 100% depreciation on a CNG conversion kit as this is a pollution controlling equipment. Organizations that buy CNG conversion kits should consult their income tax consultants and avail of the depreciation benefits. Environment friendly: The use of CNG as a fuel reduces vehicular exhaust emissions significantly. Carbon monoxide emissions are reduced by 70 to 90% and hydrocarbon emissions by 40 to 60% as compared to vehicles that use the conventional fuel - petrol. Carbon dioxide emissions, a cause for global warming, are also reduced significantly by 10%.

CNG is 40%-50% cheaper than Gasoline and also lighter than air Produce less pollutant elements Due to the absence of any lead or benzene content in CNG, the lead fouling of spark plugs is eliminated. CNG fuel systems are sealed, which prevents any spill or evaporation losses. Being a gaseous fuel, CNG mixes easily and evenly in air. Less pollution and more efficiency

1 Prime among its disadvantages is the loss of luggage space.

CNG cylinders take up a lot of storage space and generally have to be placed in the boot of the car. 2 The cost of conversion too is another major determining factor. The conversion kit can cost from rs. 25,000 to rs. 35,000. But experts claim that this cost can be recovered from the fuel savings. Finally, based on its characteristics. CNG may slightly hamper vehicle performance. 3 According to conference in IIT Mumbai CNG has one Radio Active element, which is very harmful for health and may cause of lung cancer.

Due to its high dependency on mineral oil products, the road transport sector offers great potential for the substitution of imported petroleum and refined petroleum products by the domestic and environment-friendly natural gas as an energy source. The increased use of natural gas, in the form of CNG, in road transport thus helps to improve the balance of payments, the security of energy supply and concurrently the environment, particularly in metropolitan areas. From the technical point of view, natural gas as a substitute fuel for gasoline engines implies no problems at all. In the case of diesel engines, however, they have to be modified (converted) to CNG combustion.
