Twitter Glossary
RT = ReTweet; MT = Modified ReTweet FF = Follow Friday suggestions; SO = Shout Out (to) LOL = Laughing Out Loud; LMFAO = Laughing even more Blue Tick = verified as the real person (not an impersonator) IMO = in my opinion # used either to assist searching #concussion or to group Tweets together #InjPrevConf or for emphasis #notrocketscience LCHF = Low Carb High Fat (LOL) Social media Tips (from @DrJohnOrchard / www.johnorchard.com) DO join social media and get some expertise in it (or in 10 years time you might find yourself feeling like someone who doesnt have a drivers licence or cant use Microsoft Excel). DO use different platforms for different purposes (e.g. Twitter for sharing links to good articles & papers and PUBLIC comment on issues; Facebook for personal matters; Instagram for posting photos; Linkedin for showing off your CV; Research Gate for showing off your publications) DONT operate the machinery before you understand the safety manual, especially Twitter walk (using Facebook) before you try running (Tweeting) Take your public comments very seriously but dont take comments of others that seriously (see Trolls) Conclusions Its out there and now part of our lexicon! You dont have to embrace all aspects (time!) Adopt a focused approach and you wont miss out A good website is an excellent start Enhance your Social profile Practice Knowledge! @sportingjim
