MULTIPLYING AND DIVIDING
4 x 8 = 32
7 x 8 = 56
3 x 9 = 27
5 x 6 = 30 30 / 6 = 5
27 / 3 = 9

Commutative Property: 4x6=24
& 6x4=24
Associative Property: 3x5x2=15
can be found by 3x5=15 then
multiplying 15x2=30
Distributive Property: knowing
that 7x5=35 and 7x2=14, we
can then figure out that
7x7=7x(5+2)= (7x2) +
(7x5) = 35+14 which
equals 49.

there coul d be problems usi ng more than one operation.
WORD PROBLEMS
Example: Eduardo ordered four large pizzas and three
medium pizzas from Tony Fraction's Pizza Shop. A large
pizza has two more slices than a medium. A medium
pizza has eight slices. How many total slices did Eduardo
order?
Step 1: How many medium pizza slices do we have? 8 x 3
= 24
Step 2: How many slices are in one large pizza? 8 + 2 =
10
Step 3: How many total large slices of pizza are there? 10
x 4 = 40
Step 4: Add the total number of medium pizza slices with
the total number of large pizza slices. 40 + 24 = 64
