Introduction
The Prime Minister launched Saakshar Bharat, a centrally
sponsored scheme of Department of School Education and
Literacy (DSEL), Ministry of Human Resource Development
(MHRD), Government of India (GOI), on the International
Literacy Day, 8th September, 2009. It aims to further promote
and strengthen Adult Education, specially of women, by
extending educational options to those adults who having lost the
opportunity of access to formal education and crossed the
standard age for receiving such education, now feel a need for
learning of any type, including, literacy, basic education
(equivalency to formal education), vocational education (skill
development), physical & emotional development, practical arts,
applied science, sports, and recreation.

Objectives
1. Impart functional literacy and numeracy to non-literate and
non-numerate adults
2. Enable the neo-literate adults to continue their learning
beyond basic literacy and acquire equivalency to formal
educational system
3. Impart non and neo-literates relevant skill development
programmes to improve their earning and living conditions
4. Promote a learning society by providing opportunities to
neo literate adults for continuing education.

Orientation of PRIs
One day Orientation of all PRIs members (Surpanch, School Head and
Elected Community members) at Block and Distt. Level has been organized
so far. In these programme thousands of Community members, elected
members and local Member of Parliament Dr. Ashok Tanwar participated.

Community Mobilization
Month wise action plan on community mobilization from
June-2013 to March-2014 has been prepared to organize different
type of activities at Village, Block and Distt. Level.

Poster Making & Slogan Writing Competition
In the month of Jan.-Feb. 2013 Poster Making & Slogan writing
competition was organized from Village to District level. 254 Schools
participated in this competition.

Training of Preraks
3 Days Training on Saanjhi Pahal to all working Preraks has been organized with the
help of SRC Haryana and local Master Trainers.

Monitoring System
 To achieve the target of 100% literacy in the Distt. Monitoring Committees at Distt,
Block and GPs Level have been constituted under the Chairmanship of ADC-cum-MS at
Distt. Level, BDPO-cum-MS at Block level and Sarpanch-cum-CP at GP level.
 In these committees convergence with other departments i. e. Panchayat and Rural
Development, Education Department, SSA, ICDS, NAREGA and Revenue Department
have been established for effective monitoring of all SBM activities, SBM and Learner
classes. Distt. and sub-Divisional level officers are also involved in monitoring
committees.

Celebration of Independence Day
Independence Day was celebrated as “Anpadhta se Aazadi” in all 334 GPs.
Community members and members of GPLSS participated in these functions. Distt. level
programme was organized at Sirsa.

Learner Assessment Test- Aug. 2013

Learner Assessment Test- Aug.2013 was conducted in the senior most school of
the village. 10366 Learners registered themselves to appear in the LAT. 8226 Learners
appeared in LAT Aug.2013 out of which 3647 Male and 4579 Female. 65 prisoners of
Distt. Jail, Sirsa also appeared in this exam.

International Literacy Day-2013
International Literacy Day-2013 was celebrated in all Block Head Quarters of
the District. Distt. Level function was organized at Village Sikanderpur. Prizes were
given to participants with the help of SBI, Sikanderpur.

Ravjiv Gandhi Seva
Kender in 50 GPs have
