Why?
Many professors/teachers want to make
things "fun". As an instructional designer, I
don't want to throw things in the course to
just throw it into a course.
I look at a couple of elements when
determining when to use a tool:

Why?
Do students struggle with a particular concept
or idea?
Is there something that you want to introduce
with excitement?
Is there something that you want to
reinforce?
Is there an element that is just boring?
Can we turn ordinary into extraordinary?
Are we looking for some type of formative
assessment?

and briefly show tools that I use to assist
with creating engagement, collaboration,
creativity and organization.
