Q1:Failed to uncompress the installation software package a.zip

that is downloaded from http://support.huawei.com

The failure may be caused by the following:

The disk space is insufficient.

The file system of the disk where the software will be saved after
uncompression is not NTFS.

The path for saving the uncompressed files is too long so that certain files failed to be
uncompressed.

To solve the problem, do as follows:

If the failure is caused by the first cause, you should uncompress the package to the
disk with sufficient free space. In total, 1.27G disk space is required for the files
uncompressed from the dvd1_a.zip and dvd1_b.zip (Windows XP) packages or from
the dvd1_a.zip and dvd1_c.zip (2003 server) packages.

If the failure is caused by the second cause, you should change the file system
of the disk to NTFS and then uncompress the package. For details of changing
the file system, see the next page.

Q2:How To Convert FAT32 File System To NTFS In Windows XP

Ensure that the installation package is decompressed to an NTFS

partition. It is recommended that you decompress the installation
package to a partition where the operating system is not located.
Do as follows to view the type of the file system for partitioning:

If the file system type is not NTFS, do as follows to convert the file
system type to NTFS:

Right-click My Computer on the desktop of the Windows operating system, and choose
Manage. The Computer Management window is displayed.
Click Disk Management on the navigation tree in the left pane to view the file system type.

Choose Start > Run. The Run window is displayed.

Enter cmd, and click OK.
Enter convert Drive letter where the installation package is decompressed:
/FS:NTFS. For example, enter convert F: /FS:NTFS if you need to decompress the
installation package to partition F. Follow the prompt in the screen to enter the corresponding
information.
Restart the computer.

Notes:

This operation will takes several minutes. System will prompt "Conversion
Finished" after converting successfully. Even though this conversion will not loss
data, but there is still risk. It's better backup data to other partition drive first
before executing. It is also not encouraged to do conversion toward C Drive .

Q3:How to reduce the disk space occupied by the T2000

Description
After installation, the T2000, database and database files will occupy about 4G disk space.
After the T2000 server is installed, the T2000 software occupies about 1.8G disk space, which
cannot be reduced. In addition, a T2000 client is provided on the T2000 server and is used to
support the remote installation or upgrade by using CAU.

To avoid the problem of insufficient disk space, do as follows:

Recommendation:
Way1: Select the disk where the T2000/SQL2000/NMSdata directory is saved according
to the free space of each disk, during the new installation of T2000 V2R7C01 or a later
version, you can select the folder for MSSQL2000 and NMSdata. Note: If the installation
directory of the database is not changed, the SQL2000/NMSdata directory will be on the
default disk or the original disk used in the earlier T2000 version.
Way2: Deploying the needed instance. Then there are only the database for the needed
instance.
Optional( only for Laptop): modify the configuration of database to reduce the disks pace
occupied by T2000.

Deploying the needed instance by the Network Management System

Maintenance Suite(MSuite) tool to occupied the kind of the database.

Take the following instances for example, delete these instances:

MarineNemgr_1,ExtNemgr_1,Eml_mml,EmfSyslog, and so on.
Stop and Delete the instances that are not used
at present ,if need later ,add the Instance

Reduce the disk space occupied by the database file NMSdata. This method is
mainly used for the Laptop
For the new Installation including T2000 and MSSQL2000 on Laptop:
When the T2000 is installed for the first time, before you restart the system, you
can modify the configuration file of the database, to proportionally reduce the disk
space occupied by database files. After saving the modified configuration file,
restart the system. Proceed with the deployment and database initialization
according to prompts. Note: This method is applicable to only the new
installation. For details of modifying database files, see the next slides.
If you have already installation the T2000 successfully, you can follow the steps in
the next slides to modify the configuration files.

Step1: Open the Enterprise Manager provided by MSSQL2000

Run start > Program >Microsoft SQL Server>Enterprise Manager to
open the Enterprise Manager
Optional: Under the Console Root \Microsoft SQL Servers\SQL Server
Group, if there is showing no item or blank, the using the shortcut menu
item New SQL Server Registration , according to the Wizard, create a
registration for local server. Available servers: select the (local); the
login user: sa, the password is null.

Step2: Delete the User database created by initialization T2000 database.

Notes: If there are not existing the user database for T2000V2R7, then
skip and go step3.

In the Windows, select all the user database used by T2000,use the shortcut menu
item Delete to delete the database. Notes: If you want to backup the data in the
database ,please use T2000DM tool to backup the database before deleting these
database.

Step3:Modify the configuration file of database

The files to be modified:T2000DBServer_database.xml and
additionaldatabase.xml under the path:
C:\T2000\server\database\xml\platform\win32\ . Use the notepad to open these files.
Take the T2000DBServer_database.xml for example as following.

Step4: Use the T2000DM tool to initialization T2000 database.

Start the Database Management Tool.
On Windows, open the Resource Browser. In the \T2000\server\database
directory, run "T2000DM.exe".
Select T2000DBServer from the left-hand Database Server List.
Enter the password of user sa.

NOTE: The default password of user sa is null.

Click Database Maintenance.

Click Initialize Database. The Confirm dialog box is displayed.
Click OK to initialize the T2000 database.

Step 5: After initializing T2000 database, you can check whether the
disk space occupied by NMSdata folder has been reduced. If need,
start the T2000 server.

Q4: How to improve the running efficiency of the T2000

V2R7C01
The methodson

If all subsystems are deployed and all processes are started, about 2G virtual memory is occupied. As a

result, you need to configure the virtual memory of the computer after installing the T2000. Moreover, 4G
virtual memory is recommended. You can also add memory. According to the latest information, the price of
the 1G memory for a laptop is RMB100( reference price.)
If the memory is 768M or 1G, it is recommended that you select the required subsystems during the

installation and deploy the required instances after the installation. In this way, the running efficiency of the
system can be improved.

Q5:How to move the T2000 V2R7C01 that is originally

installed in the C:\T2000 directory to the D:\T2000
directory?

After the T2000 V2R7C01 is installed in the C:\T2000 directory, the free space of disk C is
insufficient. To move the T2000 to the D:\T2000 directory, do as follows:
Step1: Modify the values of the environmental variables IMAP and IMAPROOT. That is, change
the directory that the environmental variables indicate to the new installation directory.
Step2: Stop the T2000 server and client. Move the T2000 software from disk C to disk D, that is,
to the D:\T2000 directory.
Step3: To modify the T2000 installation directory information saved in the MSuite, find the
nmssysinfo.xml file in the C:\HWMSuite\server directory, open it by using the Notepad, search
for and replace the information related to the T2000 installation directory, such as C:\T2000, with
the new directory.
Step4: Modify the path for toolkit, otherwise the toolkit can not be started normally by the System
monitor Client reporting the files is not existed. Use the notepad to open the file :

\T2000\server\conf\sysmoni\monitoolkit.cfg , check the path for toolkit:

MoniBinPath=../../toolkit/server
MoniLibPath=../../toolkit/server

Q6:Failed to initialize T2000 database

Description

The common cause for failed to initialize T2000 database as following:

Cause1: The disk space for NMSdata folder is not enough.
Cause2: There are user databases under the NMSdata before initializing T2000 database, due to
without deleting the user database when uninstalling the MSSQL 2000 .
Cause3: MSSQL Server is not start;
Cause4:Failed to connect the T2000DBServer to MSSQL Server
Cause5:the password for sa is wrong. The default password for sa is null.

Steps

Step1: Check the disk space for NMSdata, It need at least 3.5G disk space.

Step2: if you have uninstalled the MSSQL2000, delete the user database under the NMSdata folder

Step3:check the MSSQL server is started or not. If not ,start the MSSQL Server;

Step4: Use the Enterprise Manager provided by MSSQL2000 to check the status of user database

if the status of the user database is suspect, use the shortcut menu item delete to delete the
abnormal user database.

Step5:Check the ODBC connect. More detail refer to the guide :OptiX iManager
T2000 PC Version Manual Installation Guide-20080115-B (3.4 Manually Installing the MSSQL
2000 and SP4 )

Step6: Use the correct password for sa to initialize T2000 database again.

Q7:What should be modified on the T2000 if the IP address of the

computer where the T2000 is installed is changed?

When the IP address of the computer where the T2000 server is installed is
changed, the T2000 can still be started. You need to check the following items
related to the IP address:
The IP address of the T2000 server that the T2000 client is connected to should be
modified accordingly. (If the T2000 server and client are installed on the same computer,
the IP address of the T2000 server that the T2000 client is connected to can be set to
127.0.0.1.)
The IP address of the T2000 server that the MSuite is connected to need to be updated
manually. Enter the new IP address of the T2000 server and synchronize the information
about the MSuite with that of the T2000 server.
If the northbound CORBA interface is enabled, you need to configure the information
related to the CORBA again.

After implementing the change of software version, the Release Owner (RO) hands over the
customized Release Notes and the documentation to the customer. If the customer asks for
the documentation CD-ROM, the local representation office will have to make a copy for the
customer by themselves. After documentation delivery, the release owner must submit
change implementation report to the customer and ask for signing confirmation.

Q1:In which situation, we need to reapply the T2000

license?

For the T2000 V200 license, the license of R version supports

forward compatibility not backward compatibility. So from the
version earlier than V2R7C01 to V2R7C01 and later version, the
old T2000V200 license can be used in the V2R7C01.

In the following situations, we need to apply for a new license:

T2000 new functions
Newly supported equipment
The number of managed equipment is increased
Upgrading From T2000V100 to T2000V200

Q2: Is the MSSQL2000 required to be installed again after the T2000

is upgraded from an earlier version to V2R7C01?

Description:
In the case of the T2000 that is installed on Windows, the MSSQL2000 is not required
to be installed again after the T2000 is upgraded from an earlier version to V2R7C01.
The upgrade process of the T2000 is as follows:
Back up the T2000 of the earlier version and the data of the T2000.
Uninstall the T2000 of the earlier version.
Install the T2000 V2R7C01 by using the installation software package, including the
installation, deployment, and initialization of the T2000.
Restore the data of the T2000, including the importing of script files, uploading of
the NE configuration data, and restoration of the customized information.

Q2: Is the MSSQL2000 required to be installed again after the T2000

is upgraded from an earlier version to V2R7C01? (conf.)

Note:
The databases MSSQL and NMSdata are saved in the original directories. New
database files will occupy about 2.1G disk space, for normally using ,it need at least
3.5G disk space. Therefore, make sure that the free disk space is sufficient before
initializing the databases.
If the free disk space is insufficient, you can modify the configuration file of the database
to release the disk space on for the Laptop. For details, see
How to reduce the disk space occupied by the T2000.
After the configuration file is modified, if the database of the T2000 V2R7C01 was ever
initialized, you need to delete the generated database by using the MSSQL
Enterprise Manager. Then, initialize the database. Note that you need to delete only
the user database for T2000, Except for the common databases, such as master, model,
msdb,pubs, Northwind and tempdb (Notes: these database can not be deleted,
otherwise the MSSQL will run abnormally).

Q3:How to switch the T2000 version if multiple T2000 versions

(V200R006C01 and V200R007C01) exist on the Laptop?

Description:

The T2000 V200R006C01 has been installed on the portable computer and works in the normal state.
In this case, you need to change the name of the original T2000 directory to T200V2R6 or other
names before installing the T2000 V200R007C01; or select another disk for installing the T2000
V200R007C01. Then, install the T2000 V200R007C01 by referencing the installation guide of the
T2000. After the installation of the T2000 V200R007C01 is complete, it should be started normally.

Before the installation of the T2000 V200R007C01, ensure that the disk where the T2000 is to be
installed has sufficient disk space. The database files of the two versions occupy about 4.5 GB of the
disk space. If you need to switch the T2000 version, back up the T2000 data first.

From V200R007C01 to V200R006C01

Modify the iMAP environment variable and set the value to the server directory of the T2000
V200R006C01.

Delete the IMAPROOT environment variable.

Initialize the database and restart the T2000. After the T2000 is started, restore the T2000 data by
using the backup MO data.

Check the toolkit configuration files: \T2000\server\sysmoni\monitoolkit.cfg , check the path for
toolkit:
MoniBinPath=../../toolkit/server
MoniLibPath=../../toolkit/server
If not, modify the path as above, or the absolute path for Toolkit server.

Q3:How to switch the T2000 version if multiple T2000 versions

(V200R006C01 and V200R007C01) exist on the Laptop?

From V200R006C01 to V200R007C01

Modify the iMAP environment variable and set the value to \T2000\server\conf of the
T2000 V200R007C01.
Add the IMAPROOT environment variable as follows: IMAPROOT=E:\T2000 (For
example, the T2000 V200R007C01 is installed in the E:\T2000 directory.
Check the MSUITE environment variable and set the value to the installation directory
of the network management system maintenance suite, such as E:\HWMSuite.
(Optional) If you change the directory where the T2000 V200R007C01 is installed, you
need to modify the T2000 installation directory that is recorded in the network
management system maintenance suite (C:\HWMSuite\server\nmssysinfo.xml) in
addition to the preceding operations.
Initialize the database and restart the T2000. After the T2000 is started, restore the
T2000 data by using the backup MO data.

Notes:The MO data of T2000 for different version is not compatible.

Q4:Failed to log in to the T2000 by using a T2000 client after the

T2000 server and client are upgraded

After the upgrade to the T2000 V2R7C01, you need to configure the access control list of client IP
addresses. Then, you can log in to the T2000 by using a T2000 client.
The system ACL refers to the access control of IP addresses for the T2000. All users must log in to
the T2000 server by using a T2000 client with a specific IP address or in a specific network segment.
(You can use user admin for the first login after the installation.) To set the ACL, do as follows:
Choose System > NMS Security Settings > ACL from the Main Menu. The ACL dialog box is
displayed.
Click Add. In the Add dialog box displayed, enter the IP address or network segment.

Q1: How to Start and Shutdown of MSuite?

Normally, the MSuite server is started or shutdown

automatically with operating system.
Manually start MSuite by running the following commands on the server:
On UNIX, run the following command as user root:
/etc/rc3.d/S91msserver start
On Windows, run the following command in the DOS window:
net start msserver
Manually shutdown MSuite by running the following commands on the
server:
On UNIX, run the following command as user root:
/etc/rc3.d/S91msserver stop
On Windows, run the following command in the DOS window:
net stop msserver

Q2: How to Log in to the MSuite Client

After the MSuite server is started, double-click the MSuite icon on the
desktop of the T2000 to start the MSuite client.
You can also start the MSuite Client by the following program:
On Windows, perform the C:\HWMSuite\client\bin\msclient.bat;
On UNIX, perform the /opt/HWMSuite/client/bin/msserver.

Enter the IP address of the T2000 server and password in the Login
dialog box, and Click OK to log in to the network management
maintenance suite client.
The IP Address is the Host IP Address of T2000 server.
The default communication port between the MSuite client and
server is TCP 50000.
The initial password is MSUITE .

Q4:How to Deploy T2000 during Installation

Select a deployment mode based on the actual situation.

Automatic deployment: It is applicable to the users who obtain the T2000 commercial license
where the number of equipment supported is the same as the actual number of equipment.

Custom deployment: It is applicable to the users who do not obtain the T2000 commercial license
or the users who obtain the T2000 commercial license or non-commercial license where the
number of equipment supported is different from the actual number of equipment. Manually select
the instance that you want to deploy, and complete the instance deployment according to the

settings.

Q5:How to Deploy T2000 during T2000 running

Description:
You can use the MSuite tool to modify the deployment of T2000 online.
Deploy the T2000 through the network management system maintenance suite
client, including adding an instance, automatically deploying an instance, modifying

Q6:How to Troubleshoot the Inconsistency of the

Instance Status In the MSuite Client

Notes:
The client of the network management system maintenance suite refreshes the
instance status every 15 seconds. Therefore, the instance status between the
client of the network management system maintenance suite and the system
monitoring client may be inconsistent in a short time.

Prerequisites
The server of the network management system maintenance suite must be
started.
The client and server of the network management system maintenance suite
must be communicate with each other normally.

Procedure
On the client of the network management system maintenance suite, click the
Instance tab.
Click the

shortcut icon to refresh the information on T2000.

Q7:How to Troubleshoot the Automatic Logout of

the Client of the MSuite ?

Notes:
The client of the network management system maintenance suite is a
system based on a single user. To prevent a user from occupying the
server system for a long time, the client automatically log out if the user
does not perform any operation on the GUI of the client in 15 minutes.

Procedure
In the INFO dialog box, click OK.
Enter the password for logging in to the client of the network
management system maintenance suite. The initial password is MSUITE.
Click OK to log in to the client of the network management system
maintenance tool again.

Q8:How to Troubleshoot the Failure of Starting

the Instance In the MSuite Client ?

Notes:
In the case of the initial startup of an instance, the corresponding data
table is created. If the instance is interrupted unexpectedly during the
startup of the instance, the instance fails to be started.

Procedure
Delete the instance on the client of the network management system
maintenance suite.
Add the instance again on the client of the network management
system maintenance suite..

Q9:Failed to deploy the T2000 on Windows for the

first time

Description:
During the Installation procedure, after select the needed sub-system, the
program will deploy the system and create the related instance, if it report the
failed to deploy.

Procedure:
Step1: start the server of the Network Management System Maintenance Suite
tool (MSuite in short), check the process in the task manager of Windows, if there is
msserver, it means the server of MSuite tool is starting. If not ,manual start the msserver
by running the following C:\HWMSuite\server\msserver.exe , dont close the dos window.
Step2: Run the following command in the DOS window:
cd C:\HWMSuite\client\bin
mscmd deploymainnms -ip 10.70.77.119 -nmspath %IMAPROOT%\server -nmsversion
T2000V200R007C01B02f
Notes: the IP address 10.70.77.119 is the IP address for T2000 server
computer; The version T2000V200R007C01B02f is the version of T2000
server.
Step3:Start the Client of MSuite tool, add the instance manually.

Q10: The error is displayed indicating Log into the server of the
MSuite failed when the MSuite is started?

When the IP address of the MSuite server is changed, if the IP address of the MSuite server that the MSuite
client logs in to is not changed manually, the error message is displayed. To solve the problem, do as
follows:

Step 1: After the IP address of the MSuite server is changed, the following error occurs when
the MSuite client logs in to the server.

Step 2: Click OK and then enter the new IP address and password. The following dialog box is
displayed.

Q10:The error is displayed indicating Log into the server of

the MSuite failed when the MSuite is started (conf.)
Step 3: Click OK. The following window is displayed again. Confirm the new IP address.

Step 4: Click OK to synchronize the IP address and the name of the computer where the
MSuite server is installed. After synchronization, the following dialog box is displayed.

Step 5: Click OK to log in to the MSuite server.
