History of UNI
Started by eight newspapersHindu,HT,Statesman,Hindustan Standard, Deccan Herald,Amrit Bazar Patrika,Aryavarta and Times of India. Took over the operations of UPI and Used their Teleprinters Started with 5 persons and in 75 it had 7 staff.

UNI launched a Number of specialized services like A weekly backgrounder service in 8 on current issues. 7 UNI Agriculture news and Feature service

UNI was first to venture in to the field of science reportage with a full time science correspondents

UNI serves roughly subscribers globally. United News of India is the first News Agency to place its Stringer in remote Andaman and Nicobar Islands. At present UNI has a correspondent, Sanjib Kumar Roy posted at Port Blair, the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

It has arrangements with the AP,DPA,JIJI of Japan, Eastern news agency (Bangladesh)

UNI is said to be the first news agency in India to launch a Finance service, a Stock Exchange service and a National Photo service. ther services offered include: UNIDARSHAN (TV news and features) UNISCAN (News display on TV sets for hotels, and government or corporate clients)
