An aggressive society
These days, our senses are bombarded with aggression.
We are constantly confronted with global images of unending,
escalating war and violence
In our personal lives, we encounter angry people cursing into cell
phones, watch TV talk shows where guests and audiences intimidate
each other verbally and sometimes physically, or attend public
meetings that disintegrate into shouting matches.
Parents scream from the sidelines of their children's sports events:
"Get aggressive!" Employees are rewarded for aggressive timelines
and plans.

Aggression in a team

People retreat into self-defense and isolation
People believe that in order to survive, they must combat the opposition.
Fear and anger destroy hope for healthy communities, workgroups,
families and organizations.

Meaning of an Aggression
In psychology, as well as other social & behavioral sciences, it refers to
behavior between members of the same species or of a competing
species that is intended to cause humiliation, pain or harm due to anger,
since their needs are not achieved like we have in a team.
At times team members try to see their own personal interests and affect
the team working.
Ferguson and Beaver defined aggressive behavior as:
Behavior which is intended to increase the social dominance of
the organism relative to the dominance position of other organisms.

Cause of Aggression
It is the establishment of a dominance hierarchy.
In humans, cause of aggression are different such as culture, morals
and social situations.
Animals may use aggression to gain and secure territories, as well as
other resources including food, water and mating opportunities.
Situational factors:

Pain & discomfort
Frustration
Gender (males are aggressive than females) etc.

Categories of Aggression
There are two broad categories of aggression namely:
1. Hostile, affective or retaliatory aggression and
1. Instrumental, predatory, or goal-oriented aggression.
Affective aggression: impulsive, unplanned, overt or uncontrolled
Predatory aggression: goal-oriented, planned, hidden or controlled.

Meaning of Compassion
It is a virtue in which the emotional capacities of empathy and
sympathy are regarded as a part of love itself, and a cornerstone of
greater social interconnection and humanism.
In a team person should be happy with others succeeding , help
others in whatever way they can.
For the team members the gateway to compassion and loving-kindness is
to be able to feel their own pain and the pain theyd be having of others.

Always bring in compassion, humor and lightness to any situation
that may appear negative, its the best way to solve a conflict.

rude to you, its the best perspective to hold.
Always remember that if someone is being rude to you, it could well be
that he/she is having a bad day or is going through a tough situation in
life.
When you hold them in a compassionate image in your mind, you will
find that their attitude towards you will change automatically.
