Madeline Hunters Direct Instruction

Model aligned with 4-MAT model
Dr. Madeline Hunter is most famous for her view on how lessons
should be planned and implemented in the classroom. She
developed eight elements that a lesson plan should contain in order
to enhance student learning. The eight elements are:

Anticipatory Set
Purpose
Input
Modeling
Guided Practice
Check for Understanding
Independent Practice
Closure
According to Dr. Hunter, practice with this lesson format will yield
better teaching and therefore, an increase in learning.
