INTRODUCTION
In a house ,kitchen is directly associated with health and nourishment of
the family.
Kitchen is a room in which meals are cooked or prepared and where
sometimes meals are eaten too.

LOCATION
Kitchen should be located in the Southeast sector of the home, to reap
maximum benefits of solar radiations , as it is the mid point of light
zones.
Other convenient locations are Northwest, East or South sectors of the
house. If kitchen is placed in these sectors always face east while cooking.
Never place kitchen in the
1. Northeast-coldest zone of water , meeting point of light and dark zones.
2. Brahamsthana the central area should be kept empty.
3. Southwest sectors.- hottest place so too much fire will accumulate here
and lead to fire hazards.
. To let plenty of natural light place windows preferably on the north or
east side of the kitchen.
. In a multi- storey house kitchen should be placed on the ground floor
and toilet is not placed directly above the kitchen.

THE DOOR
A door behind the person working on the stove is not good .
While cooking you should be able to see anyone coming into the kitchen
without turning your head more than 45 degree
Kitchen should be placed away from the main door of the house.

The kitchen should be spacious but not consist of large open spaces , as in large space
people will continually walk through and disturb the cook.
Large kitchens can be used as a dining room cum kitchen. In such cases dining table to be
placed along the western wall.
Arrangement of equipment's and fittings
stove , oven or microwave oven in the east direction or southeast corner, as this placement
appeals appeases the fire god Agni.
The stove should not face main door of the house, entry to the kitchen , a window , toilet ,
door to the bedroom, a staircase or a bed.
In case door or window facing the stove the flame will get disturb due to incoming air and
may cause a fire hazard.
Yamas energy prevails in the toilet while freshly prepare food is fulf of sattva energy so
toilet should not be visible from the kitchen

THE COOKING
The stove should not be very
near to washbasin where water
is openly used , if avoidable
place an earthen ware in
between stove and washbasin.
We should not built any slab or
cupboard right above the stove.
While cooking or preparing food
face east as the food will absorb
the benefits of the rays of the
sun.
If you face north while
preparing food the family will
suffer financial losses, if you face
west skin or bone related
problems might grasp the
family.

INTERNAL ARRANGEMENT
Eatables should be stored in glass jars.
Place sink and draining boards in the north east sector of the kitchen dish
washers should be place in between north east and south east along the
east walls.
Arrange storage covers along western, south western and southern walls.
Refrigerator are place against south or south walls.
Keep fresh milk vegetables and freshly prepared food in between north and
north east direction has natural quality of food preservation.
Keep washing machine in north west corner and all pipes and drains are
concealed and leave the centre empty.

USING KITCHEN FOR PUJA.

Choose north east corner of the kitchen
for putting an image of a deity, this
corner of kitchen lies in the east direction
of the house which is the direction of
inspiration , new beginning and
enlightenment.
Enshrine the deity above the kitchen sink
on a wooden or marble shelf or shelf
above the counter where you prepare
meals.
THE COLOURS
The natural colour of ripe fruits and
vegetables is yellow , so yellow, orange,
pink colour is good to paint kitchen
Paint the kitchen in light colours if the
size is small.

THE HOME OFFICE

LOCATION : South East sector (as natural light is available through the day).
If south east is not available, home office or study should be placed in the east,
north, or north west of your home.
SOUTH- Represents physical activities.
EAST- Represents inspiration, new beginning, creativity and focus
NORTH- WEST- Represents energy and eccentric behaviour. Also represents
health, wealth and riches. Keep your face in this direction while working to
receive positive UV radiations.
NORTH EAST-Keep a statue/ photo/ painting of your deity here.
SOUTH WEST- Realm of the earth, represents stability and solidity. Keep office
desk in this corner.
SOUTH EAST- This direction reinforces leadership qualities and power. Sitting
should be preferred here. Also, place laptops or computers here.

- Place heavy cabinets/ objects, and sofa in either south or west corner.
- Keep the center of the room, or the brahmasthana, empty.
- Display trophies, cups, certificates, etc in a position where it is visible to
both you and your clients.
