Promote officer safety by potentially deterring criminal activity,
uncooperative behavior during encounters between its members and the
public, and acts of aggression against its officers.

 

Visually record crimes in progress.

 

Record events and statements taken during the course of an
incident/investigation.

 

Promote law enforcement accountability and improve professionalism.

 

Preserve independent visual and audio information for use in current and
future investigations.

 

Collect and preserve evidence, including crime scene details, for use in
criminal investigations and prosecutions.

 

Record the advice of rights to individuals, when applicable.

from 2014 (50) (2016 gunfire related deaths up 114%)

Traffic related incidents accounted for 52 officer deaths

Ambush style attacks were the second leading cause of
cause of shooting deaths

Traffic-related incidents have been the leading cause of
officer deaths in 15 of the last 20 years.
