Location of Construction Site

Day 3 (01.06.2016)
On third day, excavation was going on for raft foundation work at a depth of 1.5 m.
Day 4 (02.06.2016)
Next day, filling of sand bedding and compaction up to 900 mm going on with 100 %
saturation.
Day 5 (03.06.2016)
After the sand filling over that 10 cm PCC layer was laid of M10 grade concrete.
Concrete was mix in concrete mixer and it was compacted by Rammer. With that, tie
of reinforcement was carried for further work of raft foundation.
Day 6 (04.06.2016)
Next day, the reinforcement was laid that is 12 mm diameter bars at 220 mm c/c
spacing and also 12
mm diameter bent up bars provided at a spacing of 220 mm c/c spacing. Then
concreting work is
carried out by using M20 grade concrete, concrete is mix at site only by concrete mixer.

On this two day the form work arrangement for pier and abutment
by metal shutters was going on with reinforcement arrangement.
Difference between pier and abutment is 5 m c/c and pier and pier is
also 5 m c/c.
Day 10 (08.06.2016) and Day 11 (09.06.2016)
After shuttering to abutment and pier concreting was going on, for
concreting M15 grade concrete was used. Concrete mixing is done in

top of the pier and at raft foundation was done by using auto
level.
Day 13 (11.06.2016)
On next day tie of reinforcement was going on for abutment and
cap as per shown in plan. For caping 10 mm diameter steel bar
are used.

24

Reinforcement of Abutment Cap

Day 14 (12.06.2016)
Next day is Sunday so construction work was closed
but curing to previous concrete work was carried out.
Day 15 (13.06.2016)
The reinforcement arrangement for the pier cap was
going on. The thickness of the pier cap was of 300
mm. also formwork also going on for pier of
reinforcement cap.

25

Cap Reinforcement on Abutment

Cap

Day 16 (14.06.2016) and Day 17
