A READING FROM

MATTHEW 10:16-23
Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the
midst of wolves; be so shrewd as serpents and
simple as doves.
17But beware of people for they will hand you
over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues,
18and you will be led before governors and kings
for My sake as a witness before them and pagans.
19When they hand you over, do not worry about
how you are to speak or what you are to say. You
will be given at that moment what you are to say.
16

For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit

of your Father speaking through you.
21Brother will hand over brother to death, and
the father his child; children will rise up against
parents and have them put to death.
22You will be hated by all because of My name,
but whoever endures to the end will be saved.
23When they persecute you in one town, flee to
another. Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the
towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
20

The word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God
(Short reflection in silence..)

Let us pray..

Dear Lord,
grant us Your wisdom,
that we may know what truly pleases You
and act upon it.
Amen.

LABORATORY

OBJECTIVES
At the end of the laboratory exercises, the students
will be able to:
explore MCAD software by solving problems
involving matrices

ANALYSIS OF ONEDIMENSIONAL BAR WITH

MORE THAN ONE ELEMENT

OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, it is expected that
students can:
distinguish member forces from nodal forces;
formulate the elemental FDR for each member of
the bar;
formulate the combined FDR based on the
elemental FDR; and
perform necessary matrix operations in
analyzing the bar; that is, determination of nodal
displacements, member forces, and support
reactions.

TOPICS
Formulation of the elemental and combined force
displacement relationship (FDR)
Analysis of one-dimensional bar with more than
one element

RECALL:

The Force-Displacement
Relationship for a Single
Bar or Rod Element

Note:
In the force-displacement relationship,
it is important to keep the order of forces
and displacements; left first and then right,
since this is the order for which the
elemental stiffness matrix was derived.
