Self assessment
Some strengths as an artist are that I already took some art classes in high school, so I have
some background information on art. I also like doing hands-on art projects, like sculptures
and arts/crafts. Because I took art classes in high school, I have learned to better manage my
time on projects and I have learned to better organize plans and thoughts.
My goals I have set as a future arts educator in an elementary classroom is that I want to
make the classroom setting a positive and supporting atmosphere. I also want to use different
teaching methods so that I can reach a wider audience and find out whats best when
teaching. And lastly, I want to be able to give prompt feedback to students after they finish
their projects so they know what they did correctly and what they can improve on.
To achieve my goals, I will set and clarify classroom and school rules so that my students
know what I expect them to do. I will also be a role model for my students, by showing them
what they should be doing in class. I will be using different teaching methods to see how they
work/which ones work best. And most importantly, I will praise students for their good choices
and the good work they do.
