ELECTROSHOCK GUN

INTRODUCTION

An electroshock weapon is used for

incapacitating a person by
administering electric shock aimed
at disrupting superficial muscle
function.

This causes pain without significantly

hurting the subject.

Taser experiences stimulation of

sensory nerves and motor nerves,
resulting in strong involuntary
muscle contractions

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

Taser fires two small dart-like

electrodes, which stay connected
to the main unit by conductive
wires as they are propelled by
small compressed nitrogen
charges.

The cartridge contains a pair of

electrodes and propellant for a
single shot, and is replaced after
each use.

It is used to produce a high

voltage and a low current signal.

CIRCUIT DESIGN

The stun gun uses a 555 Timer to produce

an oscillating signal of frequency determined
by the external passive elements connected
to the Timer.

The low current electric pulses are fed to a

step up transformer to produce a high
voltage volt signal.

It is further increased by a voltage multiplier

circuit.

The multiplier circuit consists of multiple

stages of voltage doubler each consisting of
two diodes and two capacitors.

The output voltage is directly proportional to

the number of stages.

HOW IT WORKS?

Dumps electrical energy

into the victim.

Causes momentary
paralysis.

Leads to muscle spasms.

Induces pain sensation.

However it doesnt lead

to death of the
individual.

Delivers low amplitude

and high voltage of
about 20,000-150,000
volts.

THE GAS TANK

The gas tank is what sends the electrodes towards the victim.

Has a15-20 feet range.

Pulling the trigger breaks open the gas chamber, building pressure on the electrodes
launching them out.

The electrodes are attached to the wires and barbs.

The stun gun usually takes a 9V battery.

The negative aspects include:

One shot
Reload
New gas tank
Current cant travel between the outer pair unless something comes between them.

DECONSTRUCTED

TIMING CAPABILITIES

A one-half second contact from a stun gun will

repel and startle the attacker.

This induces pain and muscle stimulation in the

individual.

One to two seconds will cause muscle spasms

and a dazed mental state.

Over three seconds will cause loss of balance and

muscle control, mental confusion and
disorientation.

COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE VARIETIES

Compact stun guns

Electric shock prods

Stun belts

APPLICATIONS

It can be used for

security purpose for
individuals from
intruders.

It can be used as
protection from animals.

It can be used as
modern warfare
equipment.

Police department uses

stun guns to arrest
criminals.

LEGAL ISSUES

The United Nations Committee against Torture reports that the use of
Tasers can be a form of torture, due to the acute pain they cause , and
warns against the possibility of death in some cases.

The American Civil Liberties Union has also raised concerns about their
use, as has the British human rights organization Resist Cardiac Arrest.

Amnesty International has reported several alleged cases of excessive

electroshock gun use that possibly amount to torture.

In the United Kingdom, the possession and purchase of any weapon of

whatever description designed or adapted for the discharge of any
noxious liquid, gas or other thing is prohibited.

LIMITATIONS

Since this involves high voltage pulse production, the circuit is

hazardous and should be implemented on hardware with uttermost
care and precaution.

One should not touch the output with bare hands as this high voltage,
low current signal can send shock waves through the body, disrupting
the nervous system.

While designing the circuit, factors like corona discharge, stray

capacitance are not taken into account, which may affect the output.

This circuit should never be used in the presence of persons with

cardiac issues.

It is actually to get a 9:1000 step up transformer at low frequency and

its construction is quite simple.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Test-firing the stun gun device is recommended to ensure battery life as

well as practice using the stun gun.

The recommendation calls for firing the unit not more than a second or
two.

Firing the stun gun in the air for too long can damage the unit as it is
not grounded.

This does not apply however while using the unit on an assailant,
because the stun gun is then grounded out on the person being
stunned.

TRAJECTORY

HOW DOES IT FEEL?

It feels like hitting the funny bone multiplied times

10,000.

This excruciating pain is extended throughout the entire

body.

The inability to function and feeling of helplessness.

Sensation of millions of tiny needles going through the

body.

Provides inherent physical, mental and emotional

trauma.
