## 2 A student carries out a Youngs double-slit experiment . The

double slit used has a separation of a. The distance of
separation between adjacent bright fringes is x. The
interference pattern is observed on a screen placed at a
distance D from the double slit. The results of the experiment
are shown in the graph of x against D in diagram 2 below.
