Shakespeares Portrayal of Caesar

In the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare portrays Caesar as
the antagonist despite the fact that Julius Caesar is the plays' such title character.
Some of his character traits included him being arrogant, narcissistic, and vengeful.
In the play Shakespeare wrote that Caesar was kidnapped by pirates and while he
was kidnapped he said to the pirated, " Be quiet, I am trying to sleep." This makes him
out to be a pretty arrogant man. Even while being held captive he had the audacity
to make a comment like that, knowing that he could have been killed. Julius Caesar
wanted to be the dictator of the Roman Empire without showing any real heroism.
He refuses to listen to anyone because he feels that he is always right. This makes
him seems a bit narcissistic. His arrogance and narcissism eventually gets him killed
by Brutus.
