NAPA Project Highlights/K.Gyanendra

How do we see the Ministry¶s role in climate change knowledge management? Convener: provides a platform
for different stakeholders to come together

Catalyst: supports generation
of innovative ideas & actions

Enabler: builds capacities of
communities and institutions

The Situation

Adaptation is knowledge intensive ± we need to mobilize knowledge from various disciplines and sectors Many ongoing knowledge generation and dissemination activities in Nepal but they are not coordinated and outputs are not available in one central location (both physical & online)

No platform to link all information sources, people, and organizations working on climate change

Our response
Knowledge management components

Knowledge Generation
Climate change hazard & vulnerability assessments in six themes Supporting the next generation of climate change researchers

Coordination & management
Provide one online platform for knowledge providers Facilitate establishment of centralized physical repository of information (climate
change knowledge management center to be hosted by Nepal Academy of Science and Technology)

Dissemination & Interpretation
Capacity building for knowledge intermediaries (national & regional media training) Capacity building for climate change negotiators and line ministry climate change focal points

How does it fit into the NAPA?
