Abstract
This research paper was carried out to investigate the
impactof career growth on job satisfaction of software
professionals at HCL Technologies Ltd., Noida.
The purpose of this study was to determine the
relationship between career growth opportunities
available to the employees of software industries and
their job satisfaction.
This study was focused on software industry at HCL
Technologies Ltd., Noida.
For this study survey was conducted by using well-
designed pretested questionnaire that administered
through e-mail to 100 respondents at HCL Technologies
Ltd.,Noida.

The hypothesis testing has been done by use of linear regression
analysis. Sample size for this study was taken to be 100. Out of
these 100 employees, ,69 were male and 31 were female. The
convenience sampling procedure was used for data collection.
Findings of the study determined that there was a positive
relationship between career growth opportunities and employee
job satisfaction in software industry at HCL Technologies Ltd.,
Noida.
Software professionals were satisfied with career opportunities
activities that are offered at their company.
Corporate world has become more competitive hence employees
have become more conscious to their career growth opportunities.
Practical Implications of this research paper is beneficial for
management of software industries for designing career growth
and development programs in such a way that increase the job
satisfaction and promote work environment among software
professionals in software industries.

Introduction
In this competitive business world, it is very important
for the organizations to earn profit as well as to satisfy
competitive employees.
Retention of employees is also very important but not
so easy, until an organization provide them with
intrinsic/extrinsic rewards and opportunities for career
growth.
This can be done through career counselling and goal
setting, so that employees can understand their skills
and abilities to take correct action plans to fulfil their
career goals.
One must be aware of his development goals to plan
accordingly.

For this there should be a meeting with the supervisors and
managers to engage in self assessment to articulate your
goals and developmental needs and setting your
development plan as career development plan is first step
and a road map to develop your career.
Career growth planning is an important for both the
individuals and for the organization because it is not
possible to plan for the career without identifying the
needs of organization and competencies of employees.
Therefore, an organization's needs cannot be satisfied
without satisfying individual needs.
Career growth management is the process by which
individuals collect information about values, interests, and
skill strengths and weaknesses (career exploration),
identify a career goal, and engage in career strategies that
increase the probability that career goals will be achieved.

The career management process involves
career exploration, development of career
goals, and use of career strategies to obtain
career goals.
Career planning is an ongoing process where
employees explore their abilities, plan
accordingly and then create work success and
achieve their goals.
Career development involves being aware of
personal goals, values, organizational goals and
it involves continuously learning new things ,
applying new knowledge and taking advantage
of opportunities and also taking risks in order to
make your organization more effective and
productive and also achieving personal and

Research Methodology
The population for this study consisted of
employees categorized into officers and staff of
software industry at HCL Technologies Limited.
Total population of this study is unknown so a
non probability sampling technique was
adopted in which the convenience sampling
technique was used.
Sample size for this study was taken to be 100.
Out of these 100 employees ,69 were male and
31 were female Questionnaires were distributed
personally and through email.
The questionnaire was based on five points
liker's scale ranging from 1= strongly disagree,
2=disagree,3=neither

Results And Discussion

These results were analysed and discussed through


collected data based on the responses of software
professionals at HCL Technologies Limited, Noida.

Pearson Correlation matrix for the dimensions of


career growth
The bivariate correlation signifies the correlation
between two continuous variables and it measure of
linear relationship between variables. The possible
values in this correlation range from-1to+1. Here, the
value indicates the strength in the relationship and
sign(-1or+1)indicates the direction

The bivariate correlation is undertaken
between the respondents. It was hypothesized
that a relationship exists between career
growth dimensions and job satisfaction The
result in table 4.1 shows that the all the five
variables of career growth, the P value was
less than 0.05. so all the five variables met
the significance level, therefore the
relationships were statistically significant.

Conclusion
Now a days, the every professionals desire to
have career growth in different aspect and
always they try to develop their ability to learn
new skills and put them to work and they do
work for an industry leader who can provide
insight and intelligence on ways to have impact
and excel in an industry.
From the finding it was concluded that the
abovementioned company provide a good
career growth opportunities for their
employees. So that the maximum software
professionals were satisfied in terms of career
growth at different job dimensions namely
career counselling, supervision, career

Findings of the study revealed that there was a positive
relationship between career growth opportunities and
employee job satisfaction in software industry at HCL
Technologies Ltd., Noida.
Software professionals were satisfied with career
opportunities activities that are offered at their company.
Corporate world has become more competitive hence
employees have become more conscious to career
growth opportunities.
The finding also indicated that there is significant
difference between male and female in terms career
growth on different career growth dimensions like
career counselling supervision, career opportunities, job
securities and working environment variable show the
value of two tailed significance value having less than
0.05(p=0.05) as analysed from the software used.

There are following limitations in this research
study :
i) The study was limited in software industry only.
Therefore, the findings cannot be generalised
across all the industries.
ii) The study proceeds with the assumption that
the questionnaire on different parameters will
elicit a forthright response.
