Malcha Mahal in Delhi was a historical village inhabited by
thousands of Villagers in 1600 A.D. There are only two people living in here now, a brother and a sister who are direct descendants of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah of Oudh. Nawab Wajid Ali was deposed by the British more than a century ago and all his property was seized. In 1985, Government of India gave the custody to the royal descendant Begum Wilayat Mahal of Awadh, later renamed as Wilayat Mahal. She, in an attempt to humiliate the government, lived in the waiting room of New Delhi railway station for a long time until the government agreed to compensate in the form of Malcha Mahal in 1985. But by then, Malcha Mahal, a centuries old building was in ruins and out of pain and Mental stress Begum Wilayat Mahal committed suicide by drinking crushed diamonds. No one knows how true the stories are but it is said that after Begum Wilayat Mahal died, her dead body remained lying on a table for 10 days while her kids mourned in grief. She left behind her two kids, Princess Sakina and Prince Riaz, few Dobermans & German Shepherds and some royal treasure. It is also said that the night before Prince Riaz buried her, both the kids slept with their mothers dead body and ever since then, Prince Sakina has only wore black. Both siblings live in the Mahal with absolutely no interaction with the world outside the palace, confines with their mothers ashes and their fierce hound dogs. They have also been given a revolver and permission to shoot in self-protection by the Lt. Governor of Delhi. Today, the dungeon is guarded by over a dozen dogs and high shrubs and grills around the premise. They once had 27 dogs but today, only 9 are left. Others have been poisoned by local thieves, who have also stolen a huge silver table some gold and silver tableware from the palace. Rumors of Malcha Mahal paranormal activities are spread among the people, even the forest officers keep a safe distance from this place. It is said that numerous people who have attempted to enter the royal palace premises have not returned. Now the question which arises is this-Is it right to enlist this place as one of the Haunting places in India? Is it true that this place is now a home for ghosts? Or is there another story behind all these reports? Being a historical place, people also believe that there is hidden treasure buried in these ruins; and hence there have been countless efforts of robbery. There is a sign board hung at the entry gate of Malcha Mahal in Delhi advising people to stay away and beware of Hound dogs and that any trespasser could be gunned down. Afraid of these robbery attempts on regular basis, the government gave the royal family rights to self- protection. They have been given licensed guns and authority to shoot anyone who they deem dangerous or threatening. It could be said that since after their right to shoot, the incidents of people disappearing started once they enter the Mahal. It could also be derived that it is only a myth about the paranormal activity in Malcha Mahal, while the reality could be something totally human and normal.
