PM administration
In default setting in MR BTS all PM counters are
activated and will be reported.
NetAct
PM counters of a measurement type can be
activated/de-activated within MR BTS with NetAct AoM PM
Configurator or BTS Site Manager.
Only counters belonging to activated measurement Configurator Reporter
type are reported to NetAct or to the BTS Site Manager.
If some counters within a counter group belong to an IOMS
optional feature then these counters are only reported
if the feature is enabled.
The measurement period can be configured in the MR
BTS per measurement type. The supported values are

Parameter Handling

- Three areas need to be configured when creating a plan:

Radio Network Parameters (RNW)
Site Configuration Parameters (HW)
LTE BTS Transport Parameters (FTM)

- Parameters are hierarchically structured in Managed Object Classes

(MOC)

- Not all MOC are mandatory i.e. it is not necessary that the
template or configuration file contains all defined MOC for a

Fault management
Alarm generation and processing
Most of alarms generated by the eNB. Sent to iOMS, sent forward to NetAct, stored in the
Oracle database.

Alarms available from both iOMS and NetAct but NetAct may be more convenient, as
more than one iOMS may be connected to one NetAct system.

Active alarms are critical for online monitoring of live networks (NetAct alarm
monitoring).
Example: offline sites are recognized by an active alarm belonging
to an MRBTS object with SUPPLEMENTARY_INFO = Raised by BTS O&M and
DIAGNOSTIC_INFO = Connection lost.

Once cleared, alarms may be still relevant for statistical analysis:

average duration, number of alarms per type, detection of faulty hardware,
KPI degradation analysis, etc.

Fault management
Alarm generation and processing
Common object model for most of the eNB alarms provides useful fields SUPPLEMENTARY_INFO and
DIAGNOSTIC_INFO.
Transport module (FTM) alarms are different (historical reasons): encapsulation by eNB unwrapping by
iOMS inconsistent end result
e.g., the SUPPLEMENTARY_INFO and DIAGNOSTIC_INFO fields are empty for the FTM alarms.
