• 25% increase in all manuscript submissions compared to last year
(502 in 2016 vs. 402 in 2015)
• 28% increase in research manuscript submissions (440 vs. 343)

Molecular Biology and Medicine of the Lung, University of Giessen, Germany
(Co-sponsored by Deputy Editor, Dr. Rory Morty, Director of the Program)

AJP-Lung Challenges

• Continuous growth of online journals competing for manuscripts
• Lack of sufficient funds to sponsor symposia and new awards
• The EB annual meeting is poorly attended by both junior and
senior investigators of the lung community
• Increasing difficulty in identifying reviewers; people are busy
writing grants
• It will be difficult (but not impossible) to sustain our rate of growth
