Studying in

Switzerland
Switzerland is a true paradise and attracts more and more
students from all over the world. But what are the
prerequisites for studying in the small Alpine region?
Who can apply?

In principle, the condition for admission to a Swiss university

is the possession of a s.g. Or equivalent qualification. In
addition, age 18 must be completed. The mastery of the
study language must be demonstrated. In the end each
university decides whether or not the applicant is admitted.
For this, as regards the admission requirements for foreign
students, there is regular information about the rector's
conference of the Swiss universities. On the website
www.crus.ch you can get more detailed information.
The real difficulty to get a study place is the limited capacity.
Thus, foreign study applicants for the fields of human, dental
and veterinary medicine are hardly accepted.
It is also important to note that students from non-European
countries need a visa, which must be applied for in time at
the Swiss Embassy in their own country.
Study setup

In Switzerland, too, a study program is divided into a

bachelor's program, in which the undergraduate course is
completed in two or three years, as well as the master's
program.
The Master serves to deepen the professional knowledge. In
Switzerland, as in almost all European countries participating
in the Bologna project, the credit point system applies. This
means you need a certain number of credit points. For the
Bachelor 180 credits, for the Master 90 to 120.
In the semester, an average of 30 credit points must be
acquired. Lectures and courses are graded according to
difficulty and time. Examinations take place at the end or in
the current semester. Thus, large intermediate or final testing
fails.
It is comparatively easy to change the university or subject in
Switzerland. However, this must be reported to the
Secretariat. It is then decided individually whether or not
academic achievements are recognized.
How much does a study cost?
The study fees for one semester are different. They start at
500 francs. The universities in Geneva and Neuchtel are the
most favorable. You have to pay 2000 francs for example at
the Universit della Syizzera italiana.
At the University of Basel non-Swiss pay 700 francs, in Berne
655 francs. The semester fee in Zurich is 782 Swiss francs.
Much higher can be beautiful all further issues to life. The
cost of living in Switzerland is one of the highest in the world.
Rents and expenses for daily needs are very high compared
to other European countries, but taxes are low. So if you are
not only studying in Switzerland, but you have the
opportunity to work, a good life is easy to finance.
For example, the average gross salary of a Swiss worker is
6,100 Swiss francs per month, which is significantly higher
than in other European countries.
But cities such as Zurich or Geneva are among the
most expensive places in the world. It is therefore
important to check whether the high cost of living in
Switzerland is in line with one's own financing plan.
The financing of compulsory health insurance should
also be taken into account.
