The U.S. did not make the right choices in their
Thesis treatment of Mexican-American citizens. The
mistakes they made involved unrelenting abuse and
associating them with crime and gangs.
The press associated the Mexican American with sex
Evidence crimes, stabbings, gang violence, marijuana,and racial
inferiority that was the claimed reason for their
poverty.

Many white people lumped all Mexican Americans into


the category of the zooter gang members, and white
servicemen from across the country who were
