5 Nokia Siemens Networks Global information session sharing 2008
Femto Deployment scenarios

Different Femto deployment strategies are presented below

Implementation of Femto is not possible if only one carrier is available
At least two carriers are needed to implement Femto and Macro layers in the same
geographical area

1. Dedicated carrier 2. Shared carrier 3. Hot spot

F1: Macro layer F1: Macro layer No UMTS macro

coverage

F2: Femto Layer F2: Macro & Femto Layer F2: Femto Layer

Coordination of neighbouring Femto CPE position inside apartments may be needed especially in block of houses to
reduce femto-femto interferences Mobility between Femtos is not supported

For internal use

6 Nokia Siemens Networks Global information session sharing 2008
Femto Mobility
Dedicated femto carrier - Recommended
Own dedicated carrier for Femto and Macro layer
Ensures minimum probability of macro Femto interferences.
Reselection from Macro to Femto Supported
Reselection and Inter frequency handover from Femto to Macro layer supported

Macro layer Macro layer F1 - Macro layer

F2 Dedicated Femto layer

7 Nokia Siemens Networks Global information session sharing 2008
Femto Mobility
Shared Femto/Macro Carrier NOT Recommended
There is dedicated carrier (s) for Macro, but one carrier is shared Femto & Macro layer.
Idle mode reselection from any macro carrier to Femto
Femto Handover to same frequency macro layer is avoided to eliminate strong interference
situation during handover/relocation

Macro layer Macro layer Macro layer F1 - Macro layer only

Cell reselection from Cell reselection and IFHO

F1 to Femto (F2) from Femto (F2) to F1

F2 Shared between
Femto and Macro

Cell reselection x NO reselection/IFHO Towards

from F2 to Femto F2 (same frequency layer)

Avoid carrier sharing or if not possible select less loaded macro carrier

8 Nokia Siemens Networks Global information session sharing 2008
Femto Mobility
Access Control
Authorized UE
Authorized UE F1 - Macro layer only
Can camp on Femto cell normal mode,
initiate calls/connections and receive
incoming calls via Femto Cell 1
Authorized IMSI list (white list) can be
initially setup at contract signing phase 2 3 4 5
F2 Shared Femto & Macro
User may modify own white list via
WEB based portal provided by operator

1. UE camp and establish call in F1

Non authorized UEs 2. UE moves over the edge of Femto cell and
Can camp on Femto cell in limited remains in the F1 Macro layer, because no
service mode and initiate emergency handover supported from macro to Femto
calls (prioritised by Femto CPE) 3. UE terminates call under the Femto Cell, camps
on the Femto Cell F2 and makes location area
update
The Femto CPE radio and 4. UE established call under Femto cell F2 and
transmission resources are used only by moves to edge of the Femto cell where it detects
owner and its privileged users increased interference level introduces by macro
layer F2 (SHO not supported)
5. UE makes IFHO to Macro layer F1 and makes
location area updated

9 Nokia Siemens Networks Global information session sharing 2008
Femto Radio Network Planning
Dimensioning & Capacity
Air Interface dimensioning is not needed Femto CPE has fixed capacity
Only one Femto per apartment
Up to 4 active calls / Connections can be handled by Femto CPE. Base band capacity
provided by Femto CPE must be suitable to carry each bearer combination of 4 UE

10 Nokia Siemens Networks Global information session sharing 2008
Femto Radio Network Planning
Parameter Planning
There is NO per Femto parameter planning, Femto Parameter Planning happens
during Femto Rollout

Reservation of identifiers
for Femto RAN
Scrambling code re-
planning 10 LAC codes per FGW
RAC identifies for each FGW
10 scrambling codes on
shared Macro-Femto carrier Cell_ID pools
have to be released for Femto Not repeated in UTRAN
Best scrambling code for
FAP is selected based on DL Mapping rules for Femto initial
measurement on FAP carrier power setting
Automatic SC selection Different groups of houses will be
assigned to different power groups,
with aim to reduce DL Femto
interferences.
The allowed output power may be
set in steps of 1dB and range from
-15dB to +15dBm

11 Nokia Siemens Networks Global information session sharing 2008
Femto Radio Network Planning
Integration to existing Macro Network

Setting up Femto Neighbourhood in macro network

The cell reselection to Femto is forced by usage of HCS, which need to be
additionally enabled in macro (if not used before).
All Femto cell should be assigned with same, highest HCS priority

With HCS the Femto is

prioritised over macro Hfemto>0
Femto
always when cell CPICH
exceed HCS threshold Qhcs_n-15dBm

=> When H criterion is

Macro cell is dominating but
positive Femto is reselected

Hfemto > = 0 reselection to Femto cell

(Hfemto = Ec/Nofemto- Qhcs_n)
