SHEAR BEHAVIOR OF FLYASH AND M-SAND BASED

GEOPOLYMER CONCRETE BEAMS

1
OBJECTIVE

To investigate the shear behaviour of Fly ash and M-

sand based of reinforced geopolymer.

To compare the experimental results with prediction

methods currently used for reinforced Portland cement
concrete structural members, and to evaluate the
suitability of these methods for geopolymer concrete.

2
SCOPE
Produce geopolymer concrete mixtures with target
compressive strength for the manufacture of all the beams.
The research utilized low-calcium fly ash and M-sand as
the base materials for making geopolymer concrete.
Manufacture and test ten reinforced fly ash and M-sand
based geopolymer concrete beam under different
replacement ratio of sand.
Perform calculating on shear strength of geopolymer
concrete beams using current code provision and analytical
model available for Portland cement concrete members.

geopolymer concrete Faculty of Engineering and Computing, Curtin University of
Technology, GPO Box U 1987,Perth 6845, Australia
This paper presents test data on fly ash-based
geopolymer concrete.
The fly ash based geopolymer concrete has
excellent compressive strength and is suitable for
structural applications.
This paper has identified several economic benefits
Using fly ash based geopolymer concrete.

High strength geopolymer were produced from

coal combustion fly ash.
The differences in compressive strength
measured in the geopolymer made in fine
fraction.

Development And Properties of Low-Calcium Fly ash based
Geopolymer Concrete by D.Hardjito and B.V. Rangan. Curtin
University of Technology Perth, Australia.
High compressive strength of fly ashbased
geopolymer concrete.
Higher the ratio of sodium silicate strength of flyash
based geopolymer concrete. to sodium hydroxide ratio
by mass, higher is the compressive.
As the curing temperature 30c to 90 increases the
compressive strength also increases.
The average density of flyash based geopolymer
concrete is similar to OPC concrete. 7
