Twc = work content time (min/pc) (total time of all work elements that must be performed on the line to make one unit of the product) w = number of workers on the line Tsi = service time (min) Ts = maximum allowable service time (min) Tek = time to perform work elements k (min) .Line balancing algorithms The objective in line balancing is to distribute the total workload on the assembly line as evenly as possible among the workers. This objective can be expressed mathematically in two alternative but equivalent forms: Minimize (wTs โ€“ Twc) or Minimize ฯƒ๐’˜ ๐’Š=๐Ÿ(๐‘ป๐’” โˆ’ ๐‘ป๐’”๐’Š) Subject to: 1) ฯƒ๐’Œ=๐Ÿ ๐‘ป๐’†๐’Œ โ‰ค ๐‘ป๐’” and 2) all precedence requirements are obeyed.
