 DEFINITION

Interlingual errors are those that result from language

transfer and are caused by the learner’s native language, say
LI whereas the Intralingual errors are those which result
from faulty or partial learning of L2, rather than from
language transfer.

Interlingual Sources

Corder (1981) states that Lado (1964) says Interference

these kinds of errors occur (negative transfer) is negative

 INTERLINGUAL TRANSFER

Mother-tongue influence, causes interlingual

errors. They are very frequent at the initial
stages of L2 Learning since the L1 is the only
language system the learner knows and can
draw and an therefore negative transfer
takes place.Brown also argues that when
one is learning L3,L4 etc., transfer takes
place from all the previously learnt languages
but the degree of transfer is variable
