• Fabricate a jumper wire (100 to
150 mm, 4 to 6 inches long)
with Deutsch Terminals on both
ends.
• Use 7x- 1710 Multimeter Probe
to measure ADEM III circuits
voltage
• Use 8T-8726 Adapter Cable (3
Pin Breakout) for PWM sensors

Intermittent Electrical Problems

Deutsch “HD” Connector
• 1987 production, “HD” stands for
‘heavy duty’.
• Color has been black, and varied
grays
• To mate, line up ribs, push
together and turn lock ring until
it clicks
• Extraction Tool is needed for
removal of the Pins and Sockets

Deutsch “DT” Connector
1993 production...Some engines
have both DT and HD
 New Deutsch DT connector line
(Black with Green wedges) had
solved the problem with the seals
coming loose. Pin and socket
extraction tool not used
Remove wedge and depress finger
to extract each pin or socket

CAT ET will not communicate
with the ECM
• Comm Adapter II 171-4401:
– Tool Problems
– Computer/CAT ET Problems
– Application Problems
• For Comm Adapter I (7X-1701):
– Check for correct installation of SPM
– Check for blown fuses
