Grupo 9 • Plaster: This device is used when people are broken. Example: I have to wear this plaster cast on my arm for a month. • Swelling: Is the enlargement of organs caused by accumulation of excess fluid in tissues. Example: I was next to a flower when a bee stung me and made me a swelling. • Childbirth: Is the culmination of a human pregnancy or gestation period. Example: 20% of women died in childbirth. • Illnesses: can be defined as a state of poor health. Example: People often caught illnesses while they were in the hospital and died. • Deck: A platform extending horizontally from one side of a ship to the other. Example: she went up on deck to see what she could do to help. • Insurance: Is when we get a protection for our lives. Example: He had casualty insurance, so the family could pay bills after his accident, until he could return to work. • Toothpaste: A paste used for cleaning the teeth, applied with a toothbrush. Example: Every morning I use the toothpaste. • Leech: Animal which sticks to your body and suck blood. • Stick: A piece of wood, such as a tree branch, that is used for fuel, cut for lumber, or shaped for a specific purpose. • Trouser: Garment that is used to cover part of the waist to the ankles of people. Example: On my birthday gave me a pair of trousers. • Brave: Possessing or displaying courage; valiant. Example : To brave the storm. • Lifeboat: A boat used for rescue service. Example: All 1000 passengers were in the lifeboats and not one passenger died in the fire. • Sickness: The condition of being sick; illness. • Diseases: A pathological condition of a part, organ, or system of an organism resulting from various causes, such as infection, genetic defect, or environmental stress, and characterized by an identifiable group of signs or symptoms. Example: the disease was killing him. • Strange: Not previously known; unfamiliar. Example: Many of diferents methods seem very strange today. • Instead: As a substitute or an equivalent. Example: Having planned to drive, we walked instead. • Curing: Restoration of health; recovery from disease. Example: thanks to the curing I was able to move my arm. • Odour: The property of a substance that gives it a characteristic scent or smell. Example: they use perfum to cover body odours. • Rescued: To set free, as from danger or imprisonment; save. Example: they all recued someone. • Drop: The distance through which something falls or drops. • Until: Up to the time of. Example: we danced until dawn. • Colleague: A fellow member of a profession, staff, or academic faculty; an associate. • Manage: To direct or control the use of the things. • Customer: One that buys goods or services. • Rich: Possessing great material. Example: Now that he was rich he was not thought ignorant any more, but simply eccentric
