This is a magazine which is published by Haymarket media group and is
solely based on Football the first issue ever to be published was in
1994.Since the magazine was first published it has been the shirt
sponsor of Swindon Town FC for 3 years commencing the 08/09
season.The magazine is based in the united kingdom however is
available in 8 other languages..The magazine has one issue per month
priced at £4.99 and also allows annual subscriptions costing £39.99 for
12 copies(1 per month).
Content and Genre of Four Four Two

Four Four Two’s genre is sport and 100% focus is on football.This football based magazine
features in depth interviews with the most popular talents and idols in world of football
giving the reader an insight into their lives.It also features competitions to win trips to the
nou camp or to win a pair of football boots.Quizzes are also apart of the content used to test
your football knowledge from modern football back to football in the past. They do a pre-
season magazine which gives their editors predictions of how the season is going to go and
the final league positions for each team in the 4 leagues of English football.The magazine
also feature in depth gossip of transfers that are taking place and rumours of transfers
which are flying around the internet.
Purpose of Four Four Two
The purpose of this magazine is to provide the passionate footballing community a
magazine which beholds interesting knowledge for them to read and take in with
enjoyment.The magazine gives the reader an insight into many aspects of particular
footballers and how their lives contrast with other footballers from the idolised rich Lionel
messi’s to the tough rough players of league 2.Readers are given up to date gossip on
stories which are in the news and are widely covered and the magazine gives its own opinion
on the news stories as football is a game of opinions after all.The variety of interviews with a
wide range of players from various team doesn’t make the readers shy away from them but
intrigues them due to the in depth questions asked and information gathered.

This example of a double page spread in an issue of
four four two shows 1 page is a full picture of
Arsenal players and the 2nd page is an article about
Arsenal’s hopes of winning their first Premier
League title since 2004 after winning back to back
FA cups.There is two separate columns about two
arsenal players one is sub-headed “rising star” and
the other is sub-headed “local lad” these pieces
give an insight into the two players and their
performances in previous seasons.At the base of
the page there’s strip which says “Head to
www.Arsenal.com to keep up to date with the latest
news on the gunners” this gives the consumer more
information on the club which is being reported in
the article.

Four Four Two advertise their own magazine within their magazine which isn't something unusual as many
magazines do this.The way in which they do this is by having a subscription form in the magazine which can
be sent off to the headquarters to show they want to sign up.If the consumer do subscribe they will get 12
copies(1 per month)costing £39.99 with the copies having free delivery straight to your door.Four Four Two
advertise products related to football in different ways on occasion when a new pair of football boots are
released they have an article about them giving them a trial of how good they are.There are sometimes
competitions to win new football boots.Four Four Two have had many media based advertisements in the
past firstly on the television on specific channels which go with the magazines genre.When Four Four Two
became Swindon FC shirt sponsor it was very good way in which the magazine was advertised as Swindon FC
play many teams all around the country spreading the appeal of the magazine all around the UK from north
to south and east to west.Four Four Two has its own Twitter page allowing it to advertise its own magazines
on social media it gives people the latest news of when the next edition is out and its cost.It also retweets
football videos which are in trend and are very recent e
Production Process
It begins with journalists going out in their respective fields to gather news and cover events which are
taking place.All reporters have sections of the newsroom split up into different genres of news;Metro desk,
Sports desk, Business desk, Political desk, Education desk and others.As the information is fully gathered sub
editors are given the responsibility to edit the copies.Final editing will be done by the chief sub editor or
editor.The next stage is called Pre-Press this is where the newspaper is designed and laid-out and it’s where
all the stories gathered by the journalists are being decided which articles to put into that days issue.The
marketing department of the paper gives the details of advertisements that have been paid for and which
pages they’re allocated within the paper.The planning is done a prototype and is used as a final practice
before the real thing is produced.Now the press stage can take place this is where it’s divided into two parts
called the lithographic stage and impression stage depending on the companies technological
resources.Finally the post press stage is where the papers are released and entered into circulation around
the nation.

The sun is a UK based newspaper owned by multimedia based organisation News Corp and
was a tabloid newspaper however is now a broadsheet newspaper,the paper is published in
the United Kingdom and The Republic of Ireland.The sun began with the name”The sun on
sunday” however has now become a 7 day newspaper,due to its large readership of 5.5
million(In 2013) it has become one of the most popular magazines in the United Kingdom.On
the 26th February 2012 the “Sun on Sunday” was launched to replaced the scandalous
“News Of The World”and even employed some of its former journalists.

Content and Genre of The Sun

The newspaper has a large range of content and genres,including sports, celebrities,
showbiz, business, lifestyle, holidays and politics.The newspaper gives out £9.50 holidays
which have been enjoyed by more than 45 million people.The sun isn’t just a newspaper but
is media based to,The sun has live coverage of Barclays Premier League goals and other
home and international competitions as they go in,on their app “Sun Goals” 47% of sign ups
are on mobile keeping the company in the loop of modern day technology and grasp a wider
field of new readers from younger generations and even older generations as they can read
on the go literally at their fingertips.
Purpose

The purpose of the Sun newspaper is to provide its consumer a wide range of intellectual information about
various different topics which are popular within the news on that particular day.The newspaper gives
articles on showbiz,celebrities,sport,politics and reviews of movies and other new television based
programmes.The vast variety of topics written in the paper gives their consumer to read and widen their
interest in topics and open their eyes to other stories in the news. This newspaper costs 50p this makes it
affordable for the working class to buy it this low price enables the sun to generate larger readership. The
sun writes particular short articles about bad news this constant existence of bad news stories can make the
consumer feel better about themselves and see that they have better poblems than others.

paragraphs this technique is used to keep the reader’s attention.The sun uses
a technique of pyramid journalism this is where they put juicy information first
as readers only read the first few paragraphs this is a stereotypical piece of
journalism for a tabloid newspaper.The sun is written as informal and friendly
to fit its consumers needs of information even though it has articles about
politics which is usually referred to as a serious topic.

The sun Newspaper allows different products to be advertised in their daily paper and allow different ad
sizes to be in it however these can come at a cost.A full page colour ad costs £55,502 whilst a half page costs
£30,526 and finally the smallest size costs £23,000 for a quarter of the page.A full page for an Ad in The
Times newspaper costs £27,000 which is substantially less than the sun however the sun is the most popular
newspaper in the UK with a readership of 5.5 million people, so you could say you’re getting what your
paying for as your advertisement will reach a large number of people.The sun give people cheap holidays
starting from £9.99 this is advertised on the front cover of the magazine in a way they’re advertising their
own item of interest so readers will buy the magazine maybe just to get the holiday subsequently increasing
their readership.
