INTRODUCTION
• Unauthorized waste dumping poses great
threat to environment. If we could identify the
most common dumping sites we could report
it to authorities concerned.
• Proposal of an alternative solution for this
issue like land filling sites or incineration
plants.
OBJECTIVES
• Analyzing unauthorized waste disposal in the
study area and hence proving the intensity of
waste issue.
• Proposing an alternative site for scientific
treatment of wastes.
• Make the authorities concerned aware of this
issue and submitting our solution to them if
possible.
METHODOLOGY
The methodology consists of 8 steps:
1. Digitizing the criteria into shape files*
2. Working with the shape files* of selected
criterion.
3. Making a map consisting all selected criterion
4. In the map finally made provide offset for buffer
zones* as per standards adopted by central
pollution control board.
5. For deciding the importance rank of buffer zones
we use AHP(Analytical Hierarchical Procedure)*.
6. Then incorporate the buffers obtained from AHP
to the selected criterion and finalize the map.
8. In the final map so obtained there will be some
zones free of any buffers that zones are the best
suited zones for an alternative waste disposal
site.

The criterion for buffering are :

• Environmentally sensitive and agricultural zone
• Residential zone
• Residential cum commercial zone
• Commercial zone
• Road network
• Water body
• Tourist promotion areas
Key words :
• Shape file : It is a geospatial vector data
format for GIS software it can be of polygon,
line or dots type.
• Buffer zones meaning : It is generally a zonal
area that lies between two or more areas.
• AHP: It is a structural technique for organizing
and analyzing complex decisions based on
mathematics and psychology.

AHP ANALYSIS
• Structural technique for organizing and
analyzing complex decisions based on
mathematics and psychology.
• For knowing the percentage of importance of
each criterion.
• Decision making in fields such as
government,business,industry,healthcare,ship
building and education.
Procedures
• Define objective
• Structural elements in
criteria,subcriteria,alternatives etc.
• Pair wise comparison of elements in each
group
• Calculate weighting.
• Evaluate the alternatives.

CONCLUSION

From the overlying map ,we can see the

buffer un overlapped region. That region can
be used as sites for landfills, incineration sites
or othe waste treatment plants..
