Components of CC flooring

• CC floor consists of two components

BASE CONCRETE TOPPING

Preparation of sub base

• Granular inert material like sand ,gravel or quarry dust is

filled in the plinth in layers not more than 150mm

• The layers are well compacted and watered

• Lean concrete mix (1:3:6 or 1:4:8) of thick ness 100 to

150mmis laid above the sub grade.

Preparation of sub base

• The concrete bed is thoroughly compacted by hand

rammers

• It should be kept wet for 2-3 days

Laying of CC floor

• The whole surface is divided into small square or


rectangular panels of side not more than 1.5m

• On the edges of these panels aluniminium strips are


placed with the help of mortar screeds

• Before laying topping, the sub base shall be wetted


thoroughly and cleaned

• Proper slope shall be maintained before


concreting is started
• Alternate panels (diagonally opposite) are laid
first
• Remaining panels are laid in succession
• Thickness of Concrete will be 20 to 40 mm

• While laying in panels concrete is spread with straight


edge and consolidated with wooden floats
• Finished with steel trowels
• The surface is cured for a period of 7 to 14 days

• Durable
• Non-absorbent
• Smooth
• Economical
• Easy to construct
• Good appearance
• Easy to maintain and clean

Disadvantages of CC flooring

• Any modifications are difficult after construction


• Not suitable for repair for patch work
